Outside of America's Smallest Church

21. World’s Smallest Church

Georgia, West Virginia, Ohio; several states across the country (and probably around the world) claim to have the world’s smallest church.

While I don’t know which one is truly the smallest at this point in time, I do make a point to stop and check out every one I come across in my travels.

Pictured above is Christ’s Chapel in Georgia; The Smallest Chapel in America has been Welcoming Motorists Since 1949.

First, thank you for putting together such a great resource for Christian travelers. Per your site we will visit Biblewalk and Living World Outdoor Drama, after our 5th visit to the Ark/Creation Museum. Hint, Big Bone Lick State Park is a great RV location to wander from to either the Ark or Museum.

For years my wife and I have attended Narroway Productions, Fort Mill SC. It’s about 20 minutes from the Billy Graham Library. For us it’s a twofer trip. In addition, our annual trip to Sight & Sound, Ronks PA, is an enjoyable trip too.

This coming spring we will visit the Biblical History Center, LaGrange GA, on our way to Texas for the April solar eclipse, with a visit to Midlothian TX, and the sets for “The Chosen”…future updates to be shared.

God Bless You and Yours

Thanks so much for your comment! When you visit Mansfield to visit Biblewalk, you may enjoy visiting Kingwood Center Gardens too. Both attractions have plenty of room for RV parking. Biblewalk can take most of the day if you plan to see everything. They now offer seven different tours. Personally, I'd plan to do two tours and then see the Museum of Woodcarving along with the rare bibles and folk art display. Step away, have lunch (there are picnic tables there if you want to eat on the grounds) and then take a couple more tours.

My family has stopped at Big Bone Lick State Park several times to stretch our legs when we're traveling and truly love the park. Thanks so much for the information you've shared. I'll be sure to check out the other attractions you've mentioned.

God Bless, Tonya

You might be interested in this! Assumption Chapel, also known as the Grasshopper Chapel, is a Roman Catholic pilgrimage church situated upon a hill known locally as (German: Marienberg), meaning "Mary's Mountain", on the outskirts of Cold Spring, Minnesota, in a region of Minnesota largely settled in the 1850s by German-American Catholics who were attracted to the area by Fr. Francis Xavier Pierz. Although inspired by ancient traditions carried to America by local pioneers from Southern Germany, the chapel was constructed in 1877, in petition for relief from the Rocky Mountain locust plagues that devastated the Midwest between 1856 and 1877.

There is also “The Cross in the Woods” in Indian River, Michigan. It’s a bronze Crucifix about 4 stories high in a beautiful setting with about 50-75 rows of pews for church. Intertwined through the woods are the stations of the Cross. Please add this as a destination spot.
