Founded in 1847, Xavier High School is an academically rigorous, Catholic, Jesuit, college preparatory school in New York City that educates intelligent, motivated young men of diverse backgrounds and means. I had an absolutely amazing 4 years at Xavier. From the amazing teachers with whom I go and talk after class to the friends I have made on the track team, there is so much joy, respect, and belonging here at Xavier. I wouldn't trade the world for my experiences I have had, and now as a senior it is quite sad to move on but I know I am well prepared with the various AP classes I have taken and extracurriculars I have been in (Philosophy Club & Medical Science Club among others) to rock it up at Georgetown University. Thanks for everything, Xavier High School. Keep Marching!
My son has attended Xavier for the past three years and commutes from Northern NJ. He initially struggled transitioning from grammar school specifically the learning/maturity gaps that had formed during the Covid online learning years. The Xavier faculty and administration were incredibly supportive and helped him to develop better study habits, time management skills, assigned him peer tutors and stressed his need to be responsible for his education as well as to self advocate. He has learned personal accountability, to be of meaningful service to his community and successfully traverse a NYC commute daily. He has had many rich service experiences, participated in several different sports, clubs, JROTC and pursued Art as an elective these past 3 years. He has made great friendships and feels supported, recognized and loved. Xavier has helped develop him into a fine, young person who is confident, happy and fully prepared to face the challenges and appreciate the joys of life.
As a freshman parent I couldn’t be more happier with Xavier. I have found the honors program to be a perfect mix of challenging and rigorous enough for my son yet reasonable. The genuine concern the teachers and administrators have for the students is demonstrated daily. I have found the culture to be one that is accepting yet also holds them accountable for their actions, and guides and teaches them how to positively impact their world. My son was accepted into a Holocaust studies program that was sponsored by an alumni. This was such a unique opportunity to dive deeper into history and engage in current affairs. Both the program and alumni’s generosity really shows the influence and impact the school has on past, and present students as well as their future.
