James L. Gentile

A lifelong resident of Newton passed away December 21, 2021. Beloved husband of Mary A. (Ryder) Gentile. Devoted father of Nancyellen, Marie and Susan Gentile. Dear brother of John and Anthony Gentile and his wife Gina. James served his country proudly as a member of the US Air Force and is a veteran of the Korean War. A retired federal employee, he served as a communication specialist for General Services Administration (GSA) and served as a logistical support specialist for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for over 35 years. In his later years, his membership and employment at the Jewish Community Center in Newton brought James much happiness. James enjoyed flying as a private pilot in New England and Cape Cod. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at noon in Sacred Heart Parish, 1321 Centre St. Newton Centre followed by interment in Newton Cemetery. Donations in James’ memory may be made to Boston Center for Independent Living, 60 Temple Place, FL 5, Boston, MA 02111 Attn: Bill Henning.
