Balance and Options is not Quik’s strongest effort, it can’t possibly compete with the man’s output during the 90’s. But it is still dope if you’re into his signature groovy g-funk.

The instrumentals are as always, nothing short of amazing, (why’s the outro so damn short)! “Quik’s Groove V” knocks it out the park. The Raphael Saadiq collaboration “Well” is also a home run. Another highlight is the single “Pitch In On a Party” which really delivers the trademark Quik sound. Sadly not everything is as good as the ones already mentioned. The B-side is with the exception of the Troutman tribute “Roger’s Groove” kinda uninspired. But overall this is definitely an album worth seeking out.
