Derek Malcolm Guardian A Man in Love is by Diane Kurys who made the good Peppermint Soda and the excellent Coup de Foudre... This is a big and undoubtedly expensive commercially oriented love story, and curiously empty by comparison. Jul 22, 2021 Full Review David Robinson Times (UK) The characters by and large are tediously shallow and egocentric. Jul 22, 2021 Full Review Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times The strength of the movie is in the way Kurys shows how Coyote's personality has affected and shaped those around him. Rated: 3/4 Jan 1, 2000 Full Review Ángel Fernández-Santos El Pais (Spain) The tone is artificial and somewhat overburdened. [Full Review in Spanish] Jun 15, 2020 Full Review Adam Lippe Examiner.com The title may refer to Coyote's obsession with his own wonders, but it's clear that in her way, Kurys has really made it about her love for the artificiality of cinema. But mostly her love of mediocrity. Mar 13, 2012 Full Review Frederic and Mary Ann Brussat Spirituality & Practice Conveys the repercussions of a torrid live affair. Audience Member A smart, complicated film about one of the narcissistic, charismatic men many women have in her life---a film star who falls in love with an extra on the set of his movie about Cesare Pavese, the great Italian writer. The problem is that he also loves his wife! The film was a HUGE hit in France and Europe and made about 12 dollars in America. Still, it's fine.
