We’d give excellent rate if It wouldn’t have been for the front desk guy that was on the phone and completely ignore us that were waiting to buy tickets. He was rude! The opera house is amazing and the museum is very interesting. At the check point before entrance there was a kind guy who interact with our son and later, there was a lady who was showing to our children the beauty of the theater and backdrops/sounds. Entrance was $8 per adults and children not charge. We recommend it.

Before we set out on this trip we checked the website which said the facility was open but upon arrival it was closed. The palace grounds were quite nice, even in the winter but would be even nicer in the Spring/Summer. The structures were very nice and even closed, was a peaceful and pleasant experience on the palace grounds.

Well maintained historic large garden/park with various interesting buildings and follies. An excellent example of 18th century garden design with a large budget. Lots of carefully planned vistas. And parking plus garden is free. Dogs allowed on lead. A lovely way to spend a morning ahead of some Wagner.

Maisel has outdone themselves with this beer experience. We did both the tour and ate in the restaurant. It did not disappoint. Modern, yet reflects the age of the brewery in the decor. Highly recommend availing yourself of this opportunity.

Visited the Bayreuth Festival in August 2023 and sat through the whole Ring des Nibelungen. What could you say about such a thing? It is a bit like trying to "review" Rome or Florence or J.S. Bach. A few points, though: when I visited the festival southern Germany suffered under another heatwave. But I was surprised that the Festspielhaus did not feel suffocatingly hot. It was warm, sure, but not unbearably so. And the infamous seats: they look very uncomfortable - however I had no trouble with them at all.

If you ever manage to acquire tickets (cannot understand why I got them) to the Festival, go for it.

The Botanical Garden of Bayreuth University is something like the Kohinoor diamond of Bayreuth. It lies outside the citycenter. You can take a bus number 4 or number 6. it belongs to the campus area. There are wide glass houses, too.
The Garden is divided up into the continents and vegetational zones. There you can see the beauty of plants through the four seasons. In autumn you can enjoy Indian summer in Bavaria due to the fact that the North American sector is "in flames" because of all the colourful leaves of the trees. But I also highly recommend to go there when the peonies are in bloom, or the azalea and rhododendrons, whose colours and smell transport you into the High Caucasus even though you stay in Bavaria!
Do not miss the so-called Victoria-Becken with wonderful lotus and water lilies. It is very relaxing to sit there on a hot summer day and simply do NOTHING at all, just think... But there are quite a few other benches and even some deckchairs around the little lake nearby and all around the Garden where you can enjoy looking at the beauty of plants from all over the world
This garden is a real paradise for nature photographers and anybody who wants to retire from our hectical world for some time.

Richard Wagner’s name is inseparable from Bayreuth. He lived here for long time and Villa Wahnfried was built for him. It’s now a musem. His and his wife's grave is in the nice park, we visited it, also.

This castle is located in the centre. Its construction began in 1604 and after some rebuilding and a fire it was finished in 1758. So it’s not a „new” castle, but it’s worth a visit. We couldn’t go into, it was closed, but we walked in the beautiful park. It’s huge, 13hectares. I liked the canal with a fountain and wonderful flowers. We took some photos.

It's a nice place to walk around the lake, see some animals, sit down at the restaurant and have some food and drinks. It's free of charge, for both the park and the parking

Germany has many churches, but this one could more accurately be described as a chapel rather than a church.

It is a shame that nobody seems to visit it or has given it a review.
Built by the Magravine Wilhelmena and Margrave Friedrich, who are both buried there in a rather grand tomb, it is one of those delights that you come across from time to time.

Perhaps when the Opera House reopens across the road more people will visit it??

In the meantime do drop in and enjoy the free organ recital which according ot the notice takes place every afternoon.

The organist on the day I visited was excellent and I sat for nearly an hour listening to the music and enjoying the interior decorations.

If you are in Bayreuth or wherever they are performing, the Marionettentheater (operla.de) is a wonder. Classic operas with top symphonic music and a beautiful performance by intricately designed marionettes (pupets). A definite 'must see'! I enjoyed Wagner's Lohengrin - miniature magnificence.

We saw this late gothic building and visited it. The interior of this Protestant basilica was very nice, I liked the organ. Unfortunatelly we couldn’t enjoy the quiet temple atmosphere because there were 4-5 noisy children who shouted and ran around. But the church is worth a visit.
