                                                            Enjoyed a beautiful dinner with friends at this intimate French restaurant. They offered a wide variety of courses including a vegan option which was much appreciated by my vegan friend. The wine list was extensive and our server was very helpful in choosing the perfect pairing for our meal. This was my second visit and I would definitely go back again.

I dined alone and was given an amazing table with a wonderful view of the street path ahead. I highly recommend this restaurant - it was absolutely lovely!!

                                                            Lobster bisque appetizer was a bit disappointing, too thick without any trace of lobster even though we are in lobster season. Rack of lamb was good. The veal chop average. The service was excellent. They didn’t charge for the bisque when they heard my feedback. The restaurant remains a safe bet. It has a very pleasant atmosphere and friendly staff.

Bonaparte is my go to place for business dinners, events and personal dinners. The outstanding, consistent quality of food is complimented by the extraordinary staff. Each one represents the restaurant as though they own it. I have traveled the world, experienced the highest level restaurants, Bonaparte remains my favorite restaurant.

                                                            We took the tasting from the menu, though a bit on pricey side, it was so worth it. If you are entertaining business clients, or out on that special date it is a ideal selection. The 6 courses were small in size but excellent in presentation and taste. The service from the staff was top notch from the moment you walk in. The atmosphere is that of old town Montreal in a quiet personable setting. The tables are small as is the overall space. It keeps things intimate, you won't be short of space. There is a a complimentary coat check if needed. They offered to take my coat as I walked in. I highly recommend this restaurant for an exquisite night out.

                                                            Absolutely fantastic! The staff was so friendly and welcoming. We both had the duck breast which was beautifully plated with an assortment of perfectly cooked vegetables. It had a nice sauce which was light and sweet without being too much. We decided to splurge for dessert and order a grand matinee soufflé which was amazingly light and delicious. The restaurant filled up while we were there but the noise level was still low. We read that this was rated one of the best restaurants in Montreal and this meal confirmed that accolade.

                                                            Malheureusement, ce n'est plus ce que c'était! Une entrée de saumon fumée quelconque. Un jarret d'agneau tout sec et impossible à détacher de l'os même après avoir demandé un couteau à steak. (Un jarret bien cuit devrait se défaire à la fourchette.) Finalement, après deux bouchées (bcp trop salées), j'ai pour la première fois de ma vie, retourné une assiette en cuisine. C'était immangeable! J'ai finalement mangé un tartare de boeuf...correct. Pour le dessert nous avons pris la crème brûlée...complètement ratée. Une texture entre le flan et l'omelette. C'est désespérant pour un restaurant de cuisine française. Je ne l'ai pas mentionné au serveur qui débarrassé nos assiettes, mais quand il reste le neuf dixième de ton assiette c'est assez révélateur. Pour plus de 200$ pour deux (avec seulement un verre de vin au total) c'est frustrant. Je tiens à dire qu'il y a quelques années (preCovid) j'y avais vécu une de mes plus belles expériences gastronomiques, mais là, ils ne sont plus du tout au même niveau. Grosse grosse déception.

                                                            This was my first time at Bonaparte and I have already recommended it to my daughter. The maitre'd was very welcoming and gave us a history of the building when asked. The server was excellent. She checked in numerous times (but not too much) to make sure we had everything we needed and that everything was good. And the food was not only delicious but the presentation was beautiful. It was a wonderful experience and I would recommend this restaurant to all my firends.

The service, the friendliness of the entire staff and the food are always top notch with lovely presentations. Signature cocktails is a must try!                                                             For a truly authentic French dining experience, Bonaparte in old Montréal is a must. My hubby took me here for my birthday and it did not disappoint. From the moment we crossed the threshold, the warm and genuine greeting made us feel right at home. The restaurant gave us a cozy, romantic table in the window. Our waiter Frederic was exceptional. I mean truly a cut above. He treats you as if you are a guest in his home. His recommendations were spot on. For drinks, I had a kir royale and my husband had a Pinot Noir. I started with the smoked salmon and my husband had the goat cheese tapenade. I ordered the confit duck, and my husband had the fillet au poivre (cooked perfectly). For dessert, I ordered the profiterole (which came with a surprise birthday sparkler) and my husband had the napoleon. Every bite of our meal was absolute perfection. Even the bread basket was delicious. Every detail was thoughtful and perfectly executed to make our evening relaxing and enjoyable. We also appreciate that they never rush their patrons - you are their guest, and they treat you as such. First class in every way. This was not just a restaurant- this was an experience. Thank you to Bonaparte for making my birthday one that I will always remember.

                                                            Just an outstanding meal and evening at Bonaparte. The ambience is fantastic. My wife commented that it felt like we were back in France. From the host greeting us warmly to the the attentive service all night, we felt special. The food was beautifully presented and tasted fantastic. We started with the lobster bisque. Then, my wife had the lobster stew flavored with vanilla and Muscat wine. I had the chicken breast prepared with melted brie and sage. Both meals were exquisite. The chicken melted in your mouth, perfectly prepared. The pairing with brie cheese was simple but outstanding. We topped off the night with a Grande Maniere Souffle that was out of this world. Just a fantastic experience

The chocolate crumb souffle and apple pie tart were worth the extra time to wait. I had the chicken with brie/sage cream, and it was so tender and flavorful. The atmosphere was elegant, and the staff was top notch. Very friendly, professional and such a pleasure to interact with. We will definitely be eating here again when we visit again in the fall.

                                                            Very friendly and welcoming restaurant and staff. They were able to shuffle our reservation and set us at a four topper, where we set side-by-side with a view toward the restaurant. We both ordered the tasting menu and I added the wine pairing. Very prompt, but not rushed at all . I would highly recommend this restaurant for a taste of old Montreal.

                                                            Très belle expérience du menu dégustation. Il y en a pour tous les goûts et les plats sont excellents! Le service était très bien aussi mais j’aurais aimé avoir plus de détails sur les plats lors de leur service. Merci :)

                                                            Bonaparte's location in the old port centre is part and parcel to the old-world charm. Inside, the restaurant is well-appointed and elegant. Music softly complimented the ambiance. Our food was most delicious: Lobster bisque and onion for starters; entrees included the Boeuf à la bourguignonne (Beef bourguignonne) & Suprême de volaille au brie du Québec fondant, crème de sauge (chicken with brie and sage) with Creme Brule and Napoleon for our desserts. The staff was appropriately attentive, proper, and friendly. Overall, it was a memorable dining experience!
