Well I am in Iraq and Ireland in my World Tour of Misery ( boxd.it/oL1JW ).
The story of a group of soldiers in Iraq, and if you know the story of Abu Grab, then well you know what is going on here.
I think that makes this work so well is how it showcases the events as they are. In an early scene we see some Iraqi people dragging a gasoline thief from his car and beating him to death for trying to smuggle the gasoline to Kuwait. The soldiers then drag the mob off and arrest the man because this isn't justice.
And such a scene is imperative to seeing…
Three films in three days about different battalions of the British Army was something I'd never planned. After the S.A.S and then The Scots Guards in the Falklands War, we get to fictional regiment The Northdale Rifles and the war that nobody wants to talk about, the Iraq debacle. Forget the fact that we went to war without U.N. approval and based our intelligence information on what we read on Wikipedia and from Mystic Meg, it's hardly surprising that we created a shit-storm we're still trying to clear up. This film focuses on the controversial torture and abuse of Iraqi civilians by British troops intent on payback for the murder of a comrade.

A hugely anti-war film that draws attention to the many sins of the military and how those crimes are punished. The fact that you can apply that to both sides of the Iraq conflict is pretty clever, it's essentially a horrible and cruel game of tit for tat but with a terrible cost - both on tour and very much back at home for everyone involved.

Decent enough British war drama. Takes on a serious, morally complex topic and deals with it in a reasonably interesting way, though there's not much nuance here. Great performances all around. Recommended for people with an interest in the violent world of modern warfare.
i watched this in class the main guy hasban actually massibe cock you see it in the scene where he kills himselfbin the bath so thats not the point you're meant to focus on but fuck m e like 6 inches soft couldn't focusvafter that like wow that exists
Not the best start...but this does improve as it goes along. It actually develops into quite a decent storyline.
It's worth seeing through to the somewhat disturbing end.

Whilst low budget this is a good drama on the scars of war and how deep they run. Gerard Kearns plays his part well. Whilst showing bad behaviour by British soldiers, it doesn’t do it in a way which is simply black and white.
