fantastic, under-rated band in great LIVE performance

Both CDs in this set are MUST-HAVEs for Storyville fans, but the DVD sends the package right over the top. These guys are consummate musicians, so their live show is pretty tight. They sound almost like the studio versions, except better guitar solos. Malford Milligan sounds pretty good, although his voice gets a bit rough at times. David Grissom and David Holt are just awesome. The solos have me wanting more of each of their music. But the DVD allows you to WATCH what your ears hear. So, I can watch Grissom rip off some great chops. I love his guitar work. Chris Layton and Tommy Shannon are their usual solid backbeat. Anyway, not a bad cut on these CDs, and the DVD is icing.

I had never heard of this band before but had seen guitarist David Grissom perform live with Robben Ford. I did some research to find out Grissom's musical background because he was so impressive. The research led me to the band 'Storyville' and this CD. WOW !!!! They were an awesome band with all members being outstanding musicians. Manford Milligan's vocals make the band even better. I am very disappointed that I never got to see them live before they broke up.

Wow...all I can say is Wow!This package was better than I could have ever hoped for.What a great band. I feel sorry for anyone who does'nt live in Austin and never got to hear these guys.The sound on these CD's is great,but what just blows me away is the camera work on the DVD. When he is on David Grissom it is amazing and you can actually see the fillings in Malfred's mouth!Grissom wears that PRS out!!!This is a must have for any Storyville fan and if you never saw them this the next best thing!

I am ashamed to say that I have only just discovered Storyville some six years since they broke up. I have always loved David Grissoms guitar playing, Joe Ely never sounded better than when Grissom was in his band. As for Chris Leyton and Tommy Shannon of DoubleTrouble fame plus David Holt this all adds up to one hell of a super group. Vocals are courtesy of Malford Milligan who really is something special when it comes to the kind of blues based rock that is served up here. Good songs, great vocals and fine playing make this album a joy. The atmosphere in Antones is great and comes across well in the DVD though the camera angles are not always as good as they could be and the sound volume is very low so you need to crank it up to ten to really enjoy the music. Don,t let that stop you buying this though it is worth every penny. I only wish that more of the gigs recorded at Antones were available on CD/DVD.

Storyville est un blues-rock band occasionnel qui rassemble deux guitaristes exceptionnels à savoir David Holt et David Grissom, ce dernier bien connu des fans de John Mellencamp, qui a fait maintes fois appel à lui pour assurer les guitares au sein de son groupe.A ces deux lascars il faut ajouter un immense chanteur (au propre comme au figuré!) en la personne de Malford Milligan. La section rythmique est assurée par Chris Layton et Tommy Shannon, ex Double Trouble de feu Stevie Ray Vaughan! Tous ces gars sont natifs du Texas, ce live est enregistré dans leur fief à Austin. Concert qui passe en revue les meilleurs moments de leurs trois opus studio, (que je recommande chaudement!)
On se demande pourquoi ce groupe n'est pas plus connu que cela! S'il fallait n'emmener qu'un cd de blues-rock sur l'ile déserte ce serait assurément celui-là!
