Diana Phillips, 62, passed away in her eldest sister's care on Thursday, December 14, 2023, in Port Orange, FL, following a yearlong battle with pancreatic cancer. The youngest of six children, Diana was born in Lerona, West Virginia on June 22 to Juanita Mae Phillips (Baldwin) and Marshall Alton Phillips. She graduated from West Virginia University, earning a bachelor's degree in Education. A longtime Port Orange resident, Diana moved to the area from New York and began a career with Volusia County spanning over 30 years. She retired as Community Services and Grants Operations Manager in 2022. Some of her greatest pleasures in life included baking delicious treats, tending to her home and garden, reading Stephen King novels, cheering for the Mountaineers, and doting on her cats Pooter, Squeaker, and Sugarfoot. Above all of these pastimes, Diana loved retreating to her childhood home in West Virginia to be in nature, and to spend time with her family. She is survived by her siblings Ronnie, Kenneth, Robert, Sandy Lynch and Beverly Tucker, and their families. They will always remember her strength, humor, and astonishing independence. A private family memorial service will be held in her cherished Lerona home in the spring.
