Rising executive Tim Conrad works for a boss who hosts a monthly dinner in which the guest who brings the biggest buffoon gets a career-boost. Tim plans on not attending until he meets Barry, a man who builds dioramas using stuffed mice. Barry's blundering but good intentions send Tim's life into a downward spiral, threatening a major business deal and possibly scuttling Tim's engagement to his fiancee.

I dare you to stare into Steve Carell's eyes on the poster for more than a minute. It's impossible.
Oh so when Paul Rudd makes fun of the disabled kid he gets $10 million and a career in Hollywood. But when I do it I’m fired from my job and beaten senselessly in the parking lot.

gave up around the 40th laugh-free minute when it became clear this is more invested in "nice guy" paul rudd (fuck you) than giving actual jokes to kristen schaal or sleazester "nowhere man" bruce greenwood; the appearance of billionaire war-crime/mass murder heir nick kroll (google kroll security) shouldve prepared me for the incredible scene where rudd says out of nowhere "the CIA does some funky stuff, but i for one am glad they're out there" in a movie directed by the guy who made MEET THE PARENTS with full agency torture dept approval. feels like a cleaned-up "confession" or limited hangout of the sicko rituals these guys actually get up to - uhh yeah we have secret, shameful mansion parties where everybody..... smirks at nerds! theyre awkward, its very mean! also has a shitty attitude about art. did not finish.
I have a few questions-
1. Why do I keep watching bad comedies?
2. How is Paul Rudd so charming?
3. WHY DO I LOVE STEVE CARRELL SO FREAKIN MUCH

I love watching Paul Rudd learn stuff.
If I was at a party and someone started pulling out mouse taxidermy of famous historical events I would think it was the best party I've ever been to. I'm only giving this movie 2 stars because PAUL RUDD and I am impressed by Steve Carell's ability to create what is literally the most annoying character in the history of cinema. This is so anxiety inducing and I just hated the characters and wanted them all to die. It felt like watching a nightmare play out but in a way that impressed me at times.
I think it's okay to make fun of some people.

Jay Roach, the man behind the camera for the Austin Powers films and the two first Meet the Parents, tries life without Meyers or Stiller. While it seems the film falls into either love it or hate it territory for most people on Letterboxd, I still enjoy the film a great deal. It's a lighthearted comedy that takes the rough premise of Le Dîner de Cons but not much of it's cleverness.
While I think Steve Carell's film career has had more then a few misses, I like him here. Opposed…
My girlfriend teared up twice during this movie and after each time she said "why am I getting emotional over this trash?"
We should watch more horrible comedies while drinking wine 🍷. The last half was much better but that was probably because of the wine.
This was the film we picked to celebrate officially getting our new apartment... weird choice I know 😂😂🍾

No matter the quality of the movie, I always enjoy the company of Steve Carell and Paul Rudd. This doesn't really stand out from all the comedies out there, but it's a nice fun watch especially after seeing a heavy film. Incredibly idiotic, but Carell channeling a bit of Brick from Anchorman did make me laugh.
