Another epic masterpiece from Prince. Brilliant concept album. This vinyl sounds flawless. Gorgeous depth and sound. Bad ass album cover too.

This is the follow up album to D&P and one can hear that. I remember when I bought the album back then, I was kind of surprised as I was used to hear something new, something different. Remember the changes in concept of Purple Rain to Around the world to Parade each, only one year apart from the other release. Now this album sounds like an extension of D&P, nothing more, nothing less. There are few songs like 7 which remembers me strongly on Thieves in the temple. I was happy to have new songs and this album is not less as good as D&P only less creative. After this album, things went a little downside. Still, he was a strong artist in every possible way. This release has a very good mix and sounds fantastic.

          Album Revolution #12:

After the resurgence of "Prince's" career with "Diamonds and Pearls", as usual, he refuses to rest on his success, and released the "Love Symbol" album....The "Love Symbol" in really being an unpronounceable graphic symbol and later what "Prince" used to rename himself, kinda threw a few people off...But as usual, if it made sense him, it just made sense...

"Prince" brought "The New Power Generation" back into the fold, minus "Rosie Gaines" and introducing "Mayte" (Garcia) (his young Muse, who would soon become the love of his life)....

The album starts off ironically with "My Name Is Prince", with Hyped Up Beats, "NPG" chants and "Tony M" Rhymes...

"Sexy M.F." sounds just as it's titled, dirty but "Funky"....

"Love 2 The 9's", to me, was an unsung hero of the album...The melody, the Horns, and the Change Ups were right on point...

The Crown Jewel in "The Morning Papers", is the kind of joint that should have been on "Guitar Hero"....

"The Max" and "I Wanna Melt With You" are ok for the Dance Floor, not really for me though....

"Blue Light" is that quirky jam that "Prince" usually do, this one a cuban flavor joint...

."Sweet Baby" is a little sappy, but it is listenable....

"The Continental" is a straight come on Record....

"Damn U" (even though it's a Slow Jam), well what can I say, I think that speaks for itself....

"Arrogance" and "The Flow" tells a kooky story with "Tony M.'s" help.....

The 2nd Crown Jewel, "7", is an FANTASTIC Song, with uplifting Lyrics and again him using the Mid Eastern vibe....

The 3rd Crown Jewel in "And God Created Woman", shows just how musical "Prince" can sound....

I'm sorry, but to me "3 Chains O' Gold" is the only stupper on the album...Yuck!!!! Not for me!!!

The album closes with it's final Crown Jewel in "The Sacrifice Of Victor", once again with uplifting lyrics....

To me, if we really paid attention, we can tell that this was the direction "Prince" was going...It's just a shame that soon "Prince" would have his very public feud with his record company, "Warner Bros"....After having a very fruitful relationship together, it was a shame that it was starting to CRUMBLE!!!! But, before any of that happened, this album, though not as successful as "Diamonds and Pearls", it was still a success, and showed that "Prince" was far from done...

Yes, this is a Prince Classic!!!!!!

Anyone know why this album hasnt received a reissue on vinyl? Been waiting for years yet is seems to have gotten skipped for reissuing by the Prince estate... anyone have any insight into this mystery?

For me this is easily my favorite album of his cause it has a high density of classics and no skippies. It's the one Prince record I had on heavy rotation in the Nineties. I just bought it in what sems to be NM condition. Seeing the prices for this album in NM condition here on Discogs this purchase makes me even happier. :D

Such a crazily underrated album... not sure why it isn't cited as one of his best more often.

This is one of my favourite Prince albums, has the right balance of everything and this pressing is beautiful. So happy to have this in my collection.

Not remotely in the same league as Sign "o" the Times, this album's fine mix of rock, pop, funk and jazz mark it as the sequel to that classic, unlike the somewhat aimless sets that came between...
