Bishop Ireton High School Reviews
Rating 3.79 out of 5 208 reviews
Bishop Ireton High School is a very welcoming community. The school is deeply rooted in its faith, with a strong Campus Ministry program that offers student retreats and daily Masses. Not only that, but the academics are fantastic, specifically with the STEM program. While I envision improvement with supplementary electives and AP courses, the engineering and computer science programs have seen large strides and success. The student body is very enthusiastic for the school, with frequent events that blend fun with service and faith. Lastly, the school has a vibrant diversity program that encourages students to take pride in their heritage. There is, however, always room for improvement. The school could introduce more honor societies and large-scale organization chapters. Furthermore, the school does not provide as many resources as local public schools do. With these changes, I can see Bishop Ireton only improving after I leave.
Ireton is, if you're not studying anything in particular, a pretty average school. There are plenty of language classes, strong English and History focus, and, if you can disregard the fact that the toilets, heating/air-con, and water fountains are always broken, you can even enjoy some small happiness before a teacher snatches it away. And that's if you feel something after spending days on end teaching yourself the curriculum that you are paying nearly $20K for.
Christian values run deep in the school, which is interesting considering how much ridiculous nonsense slips under the rug. Don't even think of sending your atheist or other-religiously-inclined child to this school; they will be forced to participate in Mass, adoration of the Eucharist, and confession - and I'm Catholic!
Besides that, like all private schools, the school is terribly overpriced. Save your money.

Ireton was overall a good experience, in all four years of me being here I have never heard of any individual getting bullied, or bullying others. There aren't a lot of loners, once you find your group you're good, but there are cliques for sure. I know not everyone is willing to talk to everyone. As far as education goes they have very good teachers, I previously went to public school and the teachers here clearly care more about student's success, having better teaching methods, and being very opened and even encourage students to meet with them after school if they are struggling. I feel very prepared for college after attending this school, and have gotten into all of the colleges I've applied for, and know multiple people who got into competitive colleges like UVA. We also have guest speakers come in about once a month who are very captivating and inspiring, good at keeping your attention. They care about raising a strong student body here, I will 100% send my kids here one day.
