Alicante’s Parks and Plazas

Stepping away from the beach will allow you to visit the parks and gardens that are found throughout Alicante. Plaza de Gabriel Miro is a place where you can find trees that are over a century old. If you want somewhere entertaining for the kids, then head to El Palmeral Park. Here you’ll find plenty to do with large spaces to run and play. There are artificial rivers with wooden bridges to cross and artificial lakes that are great for causing a splash.

Paseo de la Explanada is a must-see landmark. This famous promenade features marble tiles that create a wave effect on the ground, and it’s lined with palm trees on either side. If you visit during the summer, you’ll find a large range of stalls selling tourist gifts and crafts as well as clothing and jewellery.

Museums in Alicante

If you want to find out more about Alicante, there are various museums that you can visit. Find out about the history of the city from prehistoric times to the modern day in the Alicante City Museum. Or if art is more your thing, you can check out the Gravina Fine Arts Museum. Civil war and archaeological history are also available, and for something a bit different, you can visit Las Cigarreras Cultural Centre to find out about the tobacco factory. Entrance to many of these museums is free, making it a cheap day out
