Trick Training Your Horse to Success
Jan Sharp
2004

This book has me a little on the fence, though it's definitely got some fantastic tips in it.

Packed with great material, logical techniques, this book really focuses on making you horse WANT to perform the tricks, rather than brute force, or the opposite: relying on treats and rainbows. I really appreciate a horseman who can be firm but encouraging with their horses.

My only complaint with this book was the lack of focus. It seemed often that she would start off with a subject, but there were so many side notes and ramblings that it made it difficult to follow exactly what you are teaching your horse.

Once you can find yourself on the right track, it's really educational and valuable. I will be trying some of these tricks with my own horses soon!!

PS Sharp is the owner of TS Black The Affair (pictured on cover), a half Arabian pinto that was made into a Breyer model in 2013!
