The whole ride I felt like I was absorbing so much history and listening to a chill version of the discovery channel. The scenic viewpoints, the rides, LUNCH, nap time, the animals, and the ferry…it was such a well coordinated packaged adventure. Also, I met some incredible people and became friends! Leonard was the most amazing guide driving us to every wonder of the blue mountains trip with a beautiful story attached to each step and every corner. We felt very close to the rich cultural heritage of this part of Australia … plus lovely music along the way. - Kami F3 contributionsWe choose this tour primarily to see wombats and kangaroos in the wild (versus a zoo)--and it did not disappoint. We went to a public park area nearing dusk and saw dozens of kangaroos and wombats coming out and eating. Dave was careful to ensure we did not stress the animals while also getting us relatively close to them.
Given the location of the kangaroos and wombats in relation to Sydney, there was a lot of time in the car. But Dave scheduled things to break up the time (especially on the way down), including scenic spots (including 2 impressive waterfalls) and a lunch stop for meat pies. The private viewing of koalas was incredible, and the guide was willing to individually photograph each of us with the two koalas in a low tree we could reach. We were given packets of grass to feed the kangaroos and wallabies, toured the rest of the zoo-like adventure park, then left for more fun. We stopped several times along the ocean coast for pics then lunch at a swimming spot before traveling inland. The waterfall we saw was small compared to others in North America and the Caribbean, as we learned that Australia is the driest continent in the world, and low moisture equals small waterfalls. Finally, we ended at a winery for a wine-tasting flight each and charcuterie boards. A non-drinker was well taken care of as well. When we thought the tour was complete, our guide spotted a field full of probably 40 wild kangaroos on the way back to the hotel. The red cable car was highly recommended, and the staffs were also friendly! We’ve been taken great care by Gordon during the trip, he has shared a lot of interesting knowledge about Australia during the trip, things that we didn’t even know before! A very experienced tour guide and driver.
