If Bride of Chucky is one of your favorite Child’s Play movies, you’re in for a real treat.
Wednesday’s jam-packed finale starts with Tiffany who’s about to be executed in prison. As she lies on death’s door with a needle plunged into her arm, she’s seconds away from certain death… until a guard who’s under her control swoops in, blowing away everyone who stands in his way. Looks like all of Tiff’s voodoo finally paid off in a major way.
While Nica screams at the sight of Tiffany’s jailbreak, Jake goes under to find his way into the spirit realm. The White House has become a magnet for the dead, but before he can locate Charles Lee Ray, he has a run-in with his late abusive father. (More Devon Sawa? Sure, why not?) Jake ultimately forgives his dad, and Lucas warns his son to be careful because “he’s more dangerous here.”
Jake eventually finds Chucky’s spirit (in the form of returning franchise vet Brad Dourif), who brings him to a large theater that’s playing clips from past Chucky movies and episodes. It’s a “best of” reel of the madman’s greatest (and most horrific) kills. Other versions of Charles/Chucky are there, even young Charles (the one played by Brad’s real-life daughter, Fiona Dourif). As the two bicker about what their next steps should be, Jake finds Good Chucky who tells him that Caroline is with grandfather Wendell. Wendell Wilkins, that is.
Jake begs Good Chucky to help him finish this once and for all, but it’s all a distraction for Chucky to inhabit Jake’s body. Shortly after, Devon wakes “Jake” up as a bomb explodes, setting the White House on fire.
Jake/Chucky brings Devon and Lexy to Wilkins’ home (hello, cult film auteur John Waters!). Wilkins reveals that he created the Good Guy dolls as he parades the kids around a creepy room filled to the brim with mannequins, dolls and other oddities. After the murders began in 1988, the Good Guy doll ruined him professionally, financially and psychologically. Lo and behold, he still has the original Good Guy prototype. Caroline is there, too, but she’s wielding a knife and has clearly been taken over by the dark side. She recognizes immediately that Jake is, in fact, Chucky. But Chucky just wants back inside the body of the doll, so with Caroline’s Voodoo for Dummies book, she, Chucky and Wilkins start to hail the almighty Damballa.
The gates open outside and up drives Tiffany who’s elated to be reunited with her lover. Chucky proposes, much to her delight, as Wilkins shows her a doll in a wedding dress. He saved her prototype as well, he says. Caroline peels out of the driveway with Chucky and Tiffany making out in the backseat (in their classic Bride of Chucky forms). When Nica arrives to the mansion, she finds that Jake, Lexy and Devon have all been turned into dolls themselves. Wilkins lurks behind her with a gun and when we cut to an exterior shot of the creepy, glowing house, we hear Nica’s terrified scream ringing throughout the night.

omg I enjoyed it a lot! Like the recap says, it was jam packed! I just continue to be in awe of the entire cast. They are all so incredibly talented! I also love that they give us a behind-the-scenes look at the making of an episode. Really hoping we get a season four!!
They have to do season 4 now in light of the cliffhanger!
Now, they have to renew the show. The finale was bonkers crazy, but in an awesome way.
Chucky always has a lot of references to other movies, but this episode was through the roof! Not just to previous Chucky films and episodes, but I counted The Shining, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Stephen King’s Christine, Blade Runner (the look of the inside of John Waters’ house), the return of the Apocalypse Now version of Chucky, and I’m not sure how many others. So much happened on this episode it could have been, like, three other episodes on any other show. Please, please, please renew this.
I hope this show goes on forever! This show has proven that it can successfully reinvent itself every season, but it needs to go back to basics for next season. A road trip with Caroline, Tiffiney, & Chucky terrorizing people across the country. But do it as a straight up horror thing.
I think it should only go until Don Mancini ends it somehow. I don’t think he will until he has to (Brad Dourif’s retirement or death).
Until last night’s episode I thought so too, but Zackary Arthur’s Chucky voice (that was actually him, not Dourif dubbing) was so spot on that they could in theory keep it going even after that with Arthur taking over the voice.
Now when Mancini dies or retire, that’s another matter.
I would love for someone other than Mancini to put their own mark on this franchise.
They tried that and it didn’t work. I think what makes this show as good as it is is because you’ve got the same folks (actors and producers) doing it each time. It helps with the continuity.
… so Damballa decided to forgive him after all? Because that was kind of a major condition toward Chucky being able to soul swap again. Also, how did Chucky just realize he could inhabit Jake’s body from the spirit realm? You know what? Let me not overthink this.
That’s right. Just enjoy it for what it is.
Damballa said he had to kill without a body, which he did (using blood, which Damballa told him to do). So yes, all is forgiven. That storyline is wrapped up and done nicely.
That’s fair and makes a bit more sense. Maybe it just all felt a bit rushed to me. The finale didn’t really live up to the hype of the rest of the season – thanks for your kindness, however.
Can’t wait for season 4.
That’s right. The story is wrapped up nicely & it’s well done. The whole series has been a delight to watch. There are plenty of loose ends though. The question now is where we go from here.
Great finale, a lot has happened. I just hope the show gets renewed.
Zackary Arthur should be performer of the week. He was absolutely phenomenal in this episode!
I enjoyed the season when it focused on the white house stuff . However, the finale was bizarre and it lost me in the end. I would have been happier if the season simply left chucky in jakes body and actually explored chucky having a body for a while, instead of everyone becoming a doll. I swear there’s a really good show here, i just full the refusal to let go of the core actors has stretched beyond credibility and its hurting the show in the process
I am convinced that the show will let go of Devon, Lexy & Jake at some point. Next season should focus on Chucky, Tiffiney & Caroline’s road trip.
If it gets renewed, wait & see where they take it. I love how this show is so unpredictable.
Unpopular opinion: I’m enjoying Jake and Lexy and Devon too much and hope they stick til the show is over. I always figured they would be gone after 1 like anthology style but I’m glad they’ve been on the ride. They need to stay. Plus season 4 could be the last one – it would have a good run without getting too stupid like most shows
As long as they keep finding cool & inventive ways to keep reinventing the show, every season, there’s no reason for it to end. I would love to see someone other than Don Mancini put their own mark on the show &the franchise.
