The Hives – Lex Hives

Still waiting for it to arrive to the UK. Last update it left Poland 4th May. Anyone else waiting?

sounds great. no noise issues here and the variant looks beautiful!

There's quite a bit of surface noise, and if this was a James Taylor record that would be a problem. Luckily, this is a Hives record...they blast great music full steam ahead, making the noise floor irrelevant.

Finally, they reissue this album on vinyl! Great sound and great songs. No warping and no noise.
I like the fact that the original packaging didn't undergo too many design alterations. I must admit I'm not sure if the first edition was gatefold or not, but the whole design of this pack is centered around Lex Hives. You notice that there's a live vinyl included thanks to the hype sticker (and of course, upon opening the vinyl, you find the extra disc with its corresponding sleeve).
Great songs accompanied by a very good pressing. The live vinyl is pure Hives energy.
I wonder what the resale value of this record will be considering that the original price equated to the value of a single disc and not a double disc.

Finally an original reissue since the original, besides the RSD one. Perfectly flat record, beautifully colored and quiet enough too. Only can compare its sound to my digital copy, sounds OK to me.

Let me begin by agreeing with others that the Hives don't break any new ground here. From the moment the first track, "Come On!" begins, with Howlin' Pelle Almqvist shouting it many times, you can tell this is the same fast-paced, fun-loving Hives as always. The album has a generally faster pace than The Black & White Album, with a tempo variety similar to that seen on Veni Vidi Vicious. My personal favorite track is "Patrolling Days", but all the tracks sound and feel like they belong here. Still, I can't help but feel that this album is missing something. Maybe it's the presence of only 12 tracks again, like their first few albums, although the deluxe digital edition has two more.
