We went to Big Johns for the first-time last night. My wife and I each got 5 pounds of crawfish, our first crawfish for the season. My wife ordered mild, and I ordered spicy (Hot). We got our order in a good time and when I ate my first crawfish, I noticed that it tasted kind of muddy and tasteless. The seasoning they put on it was spicy but had no taste to it at all, only spice. We ordered our drinks, and it was only the option of cans Coke, etc., or bottles, sweet tea. The was no carbonated beverages in a glass or unsweet tea. I am diabetic and don't like to drink sugared drinks. I ended up drinking 2 cans of coke because of the spicy crawfish. The server was prompt and always checked on us to see if we needed anything. Our bill was $116.00 + tip. I don't think we will be going back here again. Too expensive for the food to not taste good and to not have the variety of drinks, i.e., a carbonated machine or boiled tea (sweet / unsweet).

We were coming through on the back roads and saw their sign, so we decided to give it a try. Food was ok, we really enjoyed the boiled shrimp. We had the Big John's Big Bowl and an order of mushrooms. The friendly staff especially Danielle was worth a stop in next time we're coming through.

My husband had the boiled crawfish which was delicious and I had a shrimp dinner, done just right. The French fries are home made, couldn't ask for better.

Good, competitive prices and the food is seasoned well. A little out of the way but well worth it if you have a craving for those sweet little mud bugs!

This is not a fancy restaurant. This is where you go to tuck into 5 pounds of crawfish, make a mess and enjoy yourself.

The best place ever to have boiled crawfish. It's a family business. We've been eating there for years and have never been disappointed.

A no-frills establishment with plenty of good people and good food. We went there last night to try it, and found the cost about 20% less than most of the other establishments. Now, you're got to look for this one, because it is not on a main street. Mapquest or Garmin your way there. The beer is cole and the crawfish steaming. We will not be returning to the other establishments such as Richard's et al. now that we've found Big John's.

It's hard to find and certainly not fancy but the mudbugs were great. Most were large and very tasty. Service was very efficient. My only letdown was that there was no patio as in Big John's name, it's all indoors. That and the fact that Big John seems not to be a beer guy. The most robust beer they had was Dos XX. There are lots of good local brews, but they didn't have any.

We weren't even in Louisiana 2 hours and we were taken here with a group of people from our RV park. I've only had Crawdads once before, at a friend's backyard barbecue. I forgot how delicious they are. This place is fantastic. It's very low key with concrete floors and plastic checkered table clothes. My husband and I shared a 5lb bowl of crawdads with onions, potatoes and corn on the cob. Wow, is all I can say! The service was quick and friendly. Also as we were paying our bill, the gal at the register was selling cake balls that she made herself. I grabbed a couple of bags (German Chocolate and Lemon). All I can say is "oh my!" If they're on the counter when your there, make sure you get some!

Big John's Seafood Patio is always my first choice when deciding to dine out. It's exactly what it says it is, a seafood patio.....concrete floors, checkered tablecloths, tin-trimmed walls, etc. The owner prides himself on quality food and good service. Crawfish can be ordered from mild to spicy. Their other seafood dishes are very tasty as well. My husband and I are very satisfied with Big John's Seafood.

I really wanted to love this place. It's out in the middle of nowhere, and has EXACTLY the right atmosphere for a boiled crawfish "restaurant." Think utilitarian, with a concrete floor and "shack-like" atmosphere. Service was fast and friendly, and crawfish prices were reasonable. There were also a few items on the menu for non-crawfish eating patrons. That said, I wasn't blown away by their boiled crawfish. My family's consensus opinion was they weren't seasoned enough. We actually had to sprinkle them with addiitional spice -- I've never done that before anywhere! Given the remote location and medicore crawfish, I doubt I'll be returning anytime soon.
