Olivia Jade Returns to YouTube After a 'Really Long Time'
Olivia Jade is back. On Sunday, the YouTuber at the center of the college admissions scandal posted a two-minute video on her channel. By Monday morning, it had 1.4 million views and was number one on YouTube’s trending chart.
In the video, Olivia Jade isn’t her usual upbeat self. Instead, she sits in a bedroom and talks directly to the camera about the last nine months since it was revealed her mother and father, Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli, allegedly paid $500,000 in bribes to get her and sister Isabella Rose into USC as members of its rowing team.
Olivia Jade says she’s “legally not allowed to speak on” anything involving the ongoing court case. She goes on to say she's missed posting on YouTube and has debated for seven or eight months of whether to return to the social media platform.
Olivia Jade’s return video already has 44,000 dislikes and the comments are flooded with sarcasm. “‘Legally not allowed to speak on that right now’ well hey when has something that you're not legally allowed to do ever stop you,” one comment reads. “Your parents are up the creek without a paddle, it's ok since you're so good at rowing,” another one reads.
Toward the end of the video, Olivia Jade says she will be back with more vlogs, but explains that she’s hesitant to say anything that appears selfish. “Ah, it’s so hard because I’m not trying to make this about me or how I’ve been because it’s not the point of this,” she says in the video. “So I’m terrified to make this video and to come back.”
Right before the scandal broke, Olivia Jade was rising to the top. She was the first influencer to partner with Sephora Collection for a makeup palette. However, two days after the news of the scandal, Sephora announced the partnership was over.
Olivia Jade has also made headlines for the opinions about college she'd expressed in the past. "...I do want the experience of like game days, partying...I don't really care about school, as you guys all know,” she said in a YouTube video on her channel. During an interview in March with Zach Sang on his show, Olivia Jade says it was her parents who wanted her to go to college “because both of them didn’t go to college.”
