locked out of Hotmail - Microsoft Community

locked out of Hotmail

I’m caught in an endless loop attempting to recover my Hotmail account. It keeps locking. I use the recovery form and even when it eventually unlocks it won’t let me use the recovery code I found and gives the ‘temporary problem with that process’ error and says try later. It will also when the recovery form eventually works and unlocks it gives me another email notification saying that I have two factor enabled (I don’t) and those requests are ignored any way. It’s been DAYS and hours trying to do this. I’ve had the account for 20 years. Can anything be done to get out of this loop?

Dear Jeff Sullivan2

Thanks for your post in Microsoft Community.

If I understand you correctly and you have currently successfully restored your account and can log in normally, you can try to refer to the following link to view the previously added security messages and add or remove them.

Microsoft account security info & verification codes - Microsoft Support

If you have only added one security message before, to replace it, you will need to wait for 30 days of pending.

Troubleshooting verification code issues - Microsoft Support

When all security info is removed from a Microsoft account, the account is put into a restricted state for 30-days.

While we understand this 30-day period might be frustrating, this is done to protect and alert you in case the security info was removed by someone who had unauthorized access to your account.

We'll send notifications during the 30-days to the original security info, which could be a phone number or email address. These notifications are sent to alert you that changes were made to your security info.

It is hoped that the above recommendations will provide you with help.

Best Regards

Hi, Clara! Could you please check my account and let me know it is in the 30 days and when that might be up? *** Email address is removed for privacy ***. I’d like to make sure it is that and that I’ve not been hacked.
