A unique cocktail of emptiness😞, silliness🤪, horniness🥵, nihilism😐 and Sam Rockwell having anonymous bathroom sex🍆💦. I feel like this movie was made for me👀.
I can see why people wouldn’t like this but it really hit me🤷♀️. Super under appreciated movie. I kinda wanna watch it again already. Maybe I’ll read the book📖🤔.
i really didn't need this movie to tell me that sam rockwell is christ's second coming....
i already knew that thanks
the girl who fell asleep with sam's dick in her hand is TRULY the biggest RELATABLE legendary ICON
I loved Chuck Palahniuk’s Choke back in high school. His transgressive nihilism always made me feel edgier than the rest, and I believe this was the third of his I read. From what I recall, the book was a genuinely fun, ridiculous, and unique ride with his own brand of twist. I haven’t checked back with Palahniuk in years, but I’m excited to catch up out of curiosity and nostalgia.
With the movie, I couldn’t get onboard with anything being shown. The direction, script, and all-around production was a pointless meander for incorporating vague scenes from the source material. I can’t imagine this’d have any real flow without knowing the source? It was just plain bad, and I’d only recommend…
This may sound strange, but Sam Rockwell choking on food is really compelling.
It’s not important which way you jump. Just that you jump.
Might Chuck Palahniuk ever recapture the lightning in a bottle that made Fight Club into one of the greatest films of the last 20 years? Well, if it’s gonna happen, it’ll take more than Director Clark Gregg (aka Agent Phil Coulson) was able to bring to this adaptation.
Highlights of the film are the sweet and charming performances of Sam Rockwell and Kelly MacDonald. And I suppose it’s an accomplishment to have turned source material involving sex addiction, psych wards, child abduction and faux rape into something that I’m able to describe as sweet and charming. But the film includes random side stories that are never resolved, random resolutions that are never earned, and a protagonist that’s charming enough to like, but never explored enough to really engage with. Not Recommended.
It blows my mind that this is now on disney plus.
This is a pretty bland adaptation of chuck pahlanuicks novel, the book and other books from him are excellent reads with some out there plots and are fun reads. This is just a dull film only saved by sam Rockwell. Its tonally everywhere and is lazily directed. No style or creativity in directing or nothing as good or memorable as fight club. Theres a lot of good themes in the book but they are not translated well to the film.
If you haven't read the book you might enjoy it but for fans of the book, it's quite bad.
I wished they would've made other chuck pahlanuick adaptations like survivor or invisible monsters.
Such an odd and sad story told really poorly thanks largely to an awful script and hammy acting from the support, but Sam Rockwell's film-saving energy utterly carried it.
They did throw in Reckoner to soothe my ears at the end credits but that felt too little too late.
