Ranji Trophy: Mumbai's Shardul Thakur hit his maiden first class century while batting against Tamil Nadu in the semi-final of the tournament. Shardul's counter-attacking knock came when Mumbai were struggling in the first innings.

India all-rounder Shardul Thakur hit his maiden first-class hundred while playing against Tamil Nadu in the Ranji Trophy on Sunday, 3 March. Thakur dominated the Tamil Nadu bowling attack and scored a counter-attacking 89-ball century in a tricky pitch at the Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy BKC, in Mumbai.

Thakur reached his hundred with a six against Ajith Ram in the 81st over of Mumbai's first innings. Shardul saved Mumbai from an epic collapse and dragged them out of trouble. At one point in time, Mumbai were 106/7 in the 48th over, and Shardul single-handedly pulled Mumbai back to the game, adding 100+ runs with Hardik Tamore.

The batter celebrated his century with an aggressive thump to his chest and pointed his finger around the ground.

At the time of writing, Shardul Thakur had just been dismissed by Kuldeep Sen with the new ball in the 86th over. Shardul scored 109 runs off 104 balls. This is only the second day of the Ranji Trophy semi-final between Mumbai and Tamil Nadu and it is expected that the match will bear a result.
