Package store, they will have mostly booze and some other things.

7 day has a variety of things, but usually doesn’t have hard liquor.

I just call it the liquor store

Sometimes called a Class VI store too. But that's an old school term that is mostly phased out.

Class VI is phasing out? As a term I mean…..so what’s the more up to date name?

We just called it the liquor store? Lol

u/Couchcurrency avatar

My buddy was army and he assumed we called it the class 6. I was racking my brain trying to figure out what the fuck else we could have called it beside the liquor store.

u/Dependent-Juice5361 avatar

class 6.

Oh yeah I have heard army guys call it this. Guess its just that military trend to have to give things special names lol.

Army Bases literally have "Class 6" on the building.

7 day, package store.

the unit morale shop

Small px usually

Since I worked at the one at the Base Housing in Beaufort SC it was always called the "7 Day Store".

Never understood “Beers ok with me but liquor NJP” did this rule happen in the prohibition era? Beer companies cut a deal with the military?

u/Couchcurrency avatar

I have no clue what you’re talking about. We drank liquor and beer in the barracks, out in town and in our homes constantly.

Oh not sure if it changed but only beer was allowed in barracks no hard liquor, vodka, rum etc it was an NJP offense.

u/Couchcurrency avatar

Hmmm. All I know is we removed any evidence of alcohol use from our rooms before field day anyway. I feel like we openly drank from liquor bottle on the catwalk all the time. Who fucking knows
