Dover Reviews
Rating 3.51 out of 5 180 reviews
The rural areas in Dover are great. The neighbors are friendly and willing to help each other. It has a great community however the state does not pay much attention to it. They leave things like major potholes on back roads and beaten up roads from buggies unattended to. Despite this, Dover city is the complete opposite. The city gets a lot of attention from the government and care put into it. Despite this the city itself is dangerous, dirty, and honestly kind of horrible. The people in the city are rude and constantly want to fight people for nothing. The drivers are horrible and constantly get in accidents. There is crime all the time. On top of this the city is commonly dirty and there are many hazards in general such as people walking across major highways in the pitch black and people who beg on the side of the street that will get angry at you and threatening if you do not give them things.
Dover, Delaware is a small and comfortable town to live in. The short commute to the beach and nearby cities such as Philadelphia and Rehoboth make it convenient to participate in large events. One thing that I would like to see change is the options for entertainment. It would be very beneficial to have more opportunities to enjoy life outside of work and school.
A sad, quiet, boring sort of place. You would never know it is the state capital. No commuter train in the entire state. Want to visit NYC or Philly or Baltimore? You have to DRIVE or TAKE A BUS. There's no fine dining, it's all diners and family restaurants that close in the afternoon. You can't buy liquor or wine or beer except in dedicated liquor stores, so no Trader Joe's 3 Buck Chuck, no Aldi wines, no Kirkland vodka. Nothing of culture: no dance (there's children's ballet school), a Choral group that you have to pay $100 to join, no symphony or orchestra, no museums, with the exception being the Victrola Museum. Yes, you can spend a few hours of your life at the phonograph museum, looking at antique phonograph players. Near an air force base, so there's the required "Air Mobile Command" museum full of old planes. I would never have moved here if I had known how dull and lifeless this state is.
