The 20 Best 'Chaotic Good' Anime Characters of All Time
Nothing says chaotic good like a willingness to try and bring your mother back from the dead using forbidden alchemy techniques. Edward Elric doesn't care about what's advisable or even possible, he's going to do whatever it takes to get to the outcome he believes is best.
Luffy is a pirate, which means that he shuns the rules of society, and will happily break the law without a thought. Nevertheless, he'll do anything to help those in need.
Yusuke Urameshi is ultimately a good kid, which he proves when he saves a child from getting hit by a car. Still, he's not exactly keen on following rules - he gets into fights on a regular basis, and if he doesn't agree with how he's told to handle a villain, he'll do what he thinks is right.

Becoming the Wizard King requires having magical powers, but that doesn't matter to Asta. He's determined to go for it anyway, because what's important to him isn't the rules of society, it's achieving a position that will allow him to create a society that treats people fairly.
Goku doesn't fully understand how earth society works, and he doesn't particularly care either. He may not know what kissing is, or be willing to carry out someone else's plan for defeating a villain, but he won't let that villain go undefeated.
Kallen Stadtfield, also known by her real name, Kallen Kozuki, is a guerilla warrior working for the liberation of the Japanese people from the Britannian empire. She could probably live peacefully and avoid conflict, but morals are more important to her than peace, and the only way to live by her morals is to break the rules of society.

Kagura - Gintama
Kagura will ride into your house on a giant dog, then eat all the food in your refrigerator and go to sleep on your couch. But despite behavior that seems to defy logic, she has an inner moral compass that keeps her from doing anything she finds morally abhorrent, and keeps her on the side of fighting for good.
Reigen Arataka believes that it's his job as an adult to protect children - however, it's also his job to exploit their psychic powers to make a quick buck. While he ultimately means well and is a great mentor to Mob, his means of helping the kid out are pretty unconventional.

Death Note isn't a series with much chaotic good, but Touta Matsuda, the youngest member of the anti-Kira task force besides Light, is an exception. He's not just willing to question whether the task force is doing the right thing, he's also willing to fake his own death and jump out a window to try and get information needed to take Kira down.

Madoka Kaname - Puella Magi Madoka Magica
Few things represent the concept of Chaotic Good better than someone who is willing to literally become a universe breaking god in order to save protect other girls from having to fight witches. Interestingly, Madoka doesn't start off willing to break the rules so drastically, but by the end of the series, all bets are off.

Nyarko-san is supposed to embody Cthulu, so she ought to be a whole lot more evil than she actually is. Her rule breaking tends to involve things like bending export laws on anime merchandise, and she's actually surprisingly loyal to the people she loves.
