La Jolla Cove Hotel delights numerous guests with its exceptional location close to the ocean and local attractions, though opinions on the hotel diverge significantly. While some visitors commend the modernity and cleanliness of the renovated rooms, others are less impressed with the outdated ones, citing concerns over cleanliness and maintenance. The rooftop amenities are often a hit, but the hotel's overall value is questioned due to high costs and additional fees. Service quality varies, with reports of both commendable staff and issues with responsiveness.

We stayed at this hotel during my daughters wedding The location was great but the rooms had no A/C and it was hot. Rooms are also very worn and outdated. This would be a great place if they update the rooms and add A/C

This hotel ovelooks the ocean and offers a spectacular view which overshadows any other short comings. No air conditioning but we didn't feel its absence. Go down and one can be up close with seals in the wild! The rooftop breakfast is another plus.

The location is perfect. The motel is reasonable, but a bit dated. We had a queen room with a stocked efficiency and a balcony overlooking Scripps Park and the cove. You can hear the sea lions barking all night, which I loved. The bathroom was small and had no counter space. Walls are thin and noise from neighbors until the wee hours kept me up. Continental breakfast was a nice surprise and is on a deck overlooking the cove. The staff is helpful and friendly. I would recommend for its location and reasonable rates, but don't expect luxury.

This hotel is perfectly located on walking distance from the center of La Jolla.
The hotel has its own parking facilities, which is perfect, because the small town has a parking problem. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The rooms withoutsea view are quire small and noisy, but with an good bathroom. The rooms do not have airco but ventilators are available in the room.
They serve a good breakfast on the roof terrace, from where you have a magnificent view on th sunset en where you can bring your own drinks and relax.

There is lots of deferred maintenance...and it is sad that the owners are not putting the money in to keep it up as they should. None-the less we are fond of the deluxe rooms because they are spacious, with nice ocean views and the location and price are exceptional. Great view and nice patios, good linens. Sadly in need of cleaning public areas, and could use a major remodel that would mount in the millions I am sure....If this was kept better it would fetch a high price....but then we could not afford to go there, so depends how much you want location and view @ an affordable price. Its no Taj Mahal ....but we are drawn back to it over and over again.

This place is so rundown and horribly maintained. There were hair strands in our bath tub. Eeewww.. Water wouldnt drain. We had someone come in and look into it. Though he supposedly did repair it, we saw no difference. We had our own little beach inside the tub every time we opened the tap.

The couches were so dirty. The silverware was dirty. The bathroom drains and surface was dirty. Such a put off!

Also, though you do have a gorgeous view of the coast from the rooms, gotta tell ya that the place gets so noisy. Noise from the cars all through the day, people smoking and playing jarring music on the road, the smokey smell from the pop.corn stall.

Out of the 3 days we stayed, 2 days the elevators were not operational. So inconvenient with a little one.

At the time of check-in,they threw in a 20$per night parking charge. What the hell.. You dont have a choice but to payfor it. Why cant they be transparent about it at the time of booking?

We had a room with kitchenette which had no dishwasher. Imagine washing dishes each time! May be its my mistake that I didnt specifically confirm if they had one. I have never seen a kitchenette accomodation without a dishwasher! But I will remember to next time.

Overall, run down, horrible looking and very badly run place.

The ONLY good thing about the place is the view from the breakfast area

Rooms are alright, a little run down but it works for the price and being so close to the beach, shops and amazing restaurants. There's a park across the street that's pretty nice, and the view from the room was great. Downfall is your going to hear the people next to you and above you on their balconies

Booked a suite last minute due to a horrible experience renting a house from air bnb. The view was wonderful and walking distance to all the restaurants, shopping area, and a park right across from La Jolla Cove Suites. You can hear the seals in the morning and the pleasant waves. Breakfast is included. Only complaint would be the lack of an AC system (they do supply fans) and the shower system was old. If someone flushes the water becomes extremely hot or cold. Other than that.. It was a wonderful experience!

Hi, I’m not the most familiar with the Cove building but the Pines building(newest) has ocean front views. I would recommend staying there since it’s the most updated and very beautiful! Hope that helps!

I believe one is slightly bigger with the bed being in a separate room and a small living area with couch and tv and the signature king is just a room with a king size bed only. Whatever you get ask to be on the remodeled side only. You do not want to be on the side that hasn’t been renovated yet. Remodeled side are beautiful, plush and everything you see in pics. The not yet remodeled side is like a run down crack house inside

We stayed in room 326 and had a very good view of the ocean from the balcony. You'd no doubt get an even better view from a higher floor.
