Following a 28-20 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in the season finale on Sunday, Tennessee Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill made it quite clear his days with the team are over.

Fittingly, Tannehill got the start in front of the home crowd in place of an injured Will Levis and played well en route to a win that also knocked the Jaguars out of playoff contention.

When asked about his future with the team after the game, Tannehill was clear he won’t be back next year, which was fully expected.

“I understand the business side of things and, obviously, we all know what happened this year. So, it doesn’t take a whole lot of foresight to see that (I won’t be back),” Tannehill said, per Paul Kuharsky.

“It was a fun day,” he added, per Buck Reising of AtoZ Sports. “It was a fun day for a lot of different reasons, but to be able to finish the season out, finish my time out here with a win, was a lot of fun and felt really good.”

Tannehill hilariously admitted that he almost “went rouge” in order to help wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins get his incentives, saying, “I’m out anyway. I’ve got nothing to lose,” per Sam Phalen of AtoZ Sports.

Tannehill ended up helping Hopkins reach two of the three he was in striking distance for, which netted the veteran wideout an extra $500,000.

Ryan Tannehill shared after the game that he was a bit emotional in this pregame moment. He shared some words with Derrick Henry, and wanted to take the field with him to “finish things together the right way.”

I know there have been some very painful moments during his time with the Titans, especially in the playoffs.

But Tannehill took this team out of the muck in 2019 and helped propel the Titans to a three-year run that was among one of the most fun in franchise history. He also finishes as the second-best quarterback in the Titans era.

His time here should be remembered fondly.
