Jessie Lee Daniels (1963–2022), R&B singer with Force MDs

by Linnea Crowther

Jessie Lee Daniels was a singer with the R&B group Force MDs, known for their 1985 Top Ten hit “Tender Love.”

Force MDs

Daniels formed Force MDs along with his four nephews in 1981. They began to build their reputation as they performed on street corners in their native New York City, and they got a record deal with Tommy Boy Records. They had several popular tracks on R&B radio from their 1984 debut album, “Love Letters,” before scoring a hit with the quiet storm track “Tender Love.” The crossover success was featured on the soundtrack to the 1985 movie “Krush Groove.” Force MDs had later hits including “Love Is a House” and “Touch and Go,” and they influenced the development of new jack swing.
