At the ACHA National Championships the Warriors would earn the No. 5 overall seed, winning one game before falling in the quarterfinals to No. 4 seed Adrian College. Four Warriors would earn All-CCWHA regular season honors in 2022-23, while one would be named to the CCWHA All-Rookie team, and four to the CCWHA All-Tournament Team.

In his first season and the programs inaugural season (2021-22), he led the Warriors to a 23-9-1 overall record and a 14-0-0 record in CCWHA play, finishing as the number one see in the conference and earning a first round bye in the conference tournament. During postseason play, Hicks would lead the Warriors to the CCWHA Tournament title game, and earning a No. 6 overall seed at the ACHA National Tournament. The Warriors had four All-CCWHA selections, while Hicks was named CCWHA Coach of the Year.
