VMI Community Updates

Institute leadership continues to communicate important information for cadets, their families, faculty & staff, and the VMI community at-large:

  • VMI will implement summer hours beginning Friday, May 24 and ending Thursday, Aug. 15. The Institute will be open Monday - Thursday from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Visitors to VMI's museums are encouraged to visit each museum's website for specific hours and tour availability.
  • The May 2024 Institute Report is now available. The latest edition of the Institute Report is now available on vmi.edu. Stories include a look at notable retirees, spring FTX, the latest theatre production, and a visit from Gov. Glenn Youngkin to post.
  • Congratulations to the Virginia Military Institute Ethics Team who recently placed second at the Military Ethics Case Competition held at the United States Naval Academy (USNA) Stockdale Center for Ethical Leadership in Annapolis, Maryland.

Summer Undergraduate Entrepreneurship Classes Begin

Classes have begun for the new Summer Undergraduate Entrepreneurship Program (SUEP) at Virginia Military Institute, for cadets who possess the mindset of an entrepreneur, regardless of academic major.

Jamaal Walton ’07 Named VMI Director of Intercollegiate Athletics

Maj. Gen. Cedric T. Wins '85, superintendent, named Jamaal Walton '07 as Virginia Military Institute's next director of intercollegiate athletics. A decorated graduate of the Institute, Walton will assume the role effective next month.

Auditions for VMI Community Theatre's 'The Foreigner'

Cadets and community members may audition for "The Foreigner" June 3-6 at 7:30 p.m. in Gillis Theater, Marshall Hall. Roles will be filled for five adult male and two adult female actors, plus minor roles. No experience needed. Performances will be July 26-28.

VMI Ethics Team Places Second in Military Competition

The Virginia Military Institute Ethics Team recently placed second at the Military Ethics Case Competition held at the United States Naval Academy (USNA) Stockdale Center for Ethical Leadership in Annapolis, Maryland.
