The city of Hazleton is at this point considered to be pretty crime-ridden and dirty. Though, like any city, it depends which parts you are in. There are areas that aren't that bad and can be fine to live in. There are a lot of places to eat and shop, with a diverse population. The education system isn't the best, but that's due to the lack of funds. The educators themselves are all very passionate and I've yet to have met anyone to dispute that claim.
There aren't many job opportunities other than factories. There also aren't many recreational activities or good shopping spots in town.
I grew up in Hazleton as did the rest of my family and lived there until I was 20 years old in the same house I also grew up in. The Heights neighborhood where I grew up has always been a nice place to live but the rest of Hazleton is rampant with all kinds of crime drugs, murders, theft and it’s been that way for at least two decades. I’d recommend the valley ,Eagle Rock if you can afford it, or Drums before I would Hazleton.
