Four hours south of Atlanta, Georgia, you’ll find the most winning high school football team in the nation. The Valdosta Wildcats dominated for nearly 90 years, producing recent Super Bowl champions like New England Patriot Malcolm Mitchell. This year, they've hired a tough new head coach to try and lead the team back to their first state championship in 18 years.

School’s started and it’s nearly time for kickoff. As coaches fight to balance football and academics, the Wildcats prepare for their crosstown rival. Down here, they call this nationally recgonized contest Winnersville Week and head coaches have been fired for losing less. A win here will be the Wildcats’ 900th, making them the first high school team to reach that historic number.

As the Wildcats hit the road and move deeper into their 10 game regular season, two QBs are hoping to be called upon as the team begins to sputter for the first time. Coach Rod’s decision threatens the delicate unity of Wildcat fans and reminds a former QB hopeful of his own experiences decades ago.

Inconsistent play has left the team without a definitive starting quarterback. Coach Rod will once again have to determine who will lead the team in this pivotal week six matchup. Off the field, college recruiters begin scouting top Wildcat prospects and Coach Rod fights to balance homelife with the demands of the 24/7 coaching a town like Valdosta requires.

Under an unlikely two quarterback system, Valdosta heads to their first region championship since 2011. But now it’s win or go home. The Wildcats will need to win four tough playoff games to earn a trip to Atlanta and a coveted spot in the GHSAA State Championship at the Georgia Dome.

The Valdosta Wildcats are about to try and do something they haven’t done in 18 years: bring home a state championship. It’ll all come down to 48 minutes of play in the home of the Atlanta Falcons.
