Staff is great. They went out of their way to help us. When we were at the pool, staff came right out and fished out some leaves that had blown in. The same fellow was our porter and was anxious to take good care of us as was the housekeeper.

The room was very nice( in the annex). Only had two small issues: wife couldn’t figure out how to get a hot shower ( this is a perennial problem at most lodgings- a small diagram would help) and second- ran out of toilet roll…

The breakfast rolls/ croissants weren’t good but the coffee was excellent. Sweetened flavored yogurt isn’t our cup of tea either.

Nice stay.

The room was decent size. Had fan and internet was strong. There was a fridge and minibar provided (prices were reasonable). They accepted credit card without surcharge. Did not try the restaurant as I arrived late and left early on both occasions that I stayed the night.

I was on a business trip and pent three nights at The Royal Palace Hotel in Antsirabe Madagascar.
Here is my review:
Pros:
The hotel looks really good in the outside so as the rooms.
They have a swimming pool at the back of the hotel and a restaurant area.
They have a little fridge already packed with cool drinks and beer, situated in on of the closet.

Cons:
1) The room walls are not sound poof enough, you could hear people talking and making noise outside in the corridor and in the other rooms next doors. The worst is if you get that one room right on top of the laundry area. Well, that was my case, I could hear the noise of washing machine during the night and it was hell when it started spinning somewhere around 4:30 to 5:00 in the morning. It was bad though that was only during the first night.

2) I experienced some dishonest behavior perpetrated by some of the hotel staff. The minute I left my room for checking out, one room service lady got in the room, came out and rushed to the reception area where I was standing. She then informed that I have consumed all the drinks and cookies that was in the room and left only on bottle of beer. The thing is, there were more than one beer in the fridges and I do not drink beer, a do not drink alcohol, and luckily enough, some people in the hotel management staff know that people from our organisation do not drink alcohol, it's our policy, and the hotel knows about it. So I sent one of the person in the reception back to the room to count and see that I left all the beers and did not touch them. Well she came back with one beer can which has just been opened, I don't know by who, and and yet not consumed, and told me: "this was on your table, and it has been opened already so you'll have to pay". I was startle; I did not opened this... and I verified every corner of that room, including the tables as I always do before leaving any hotel rooms, and there was no beer can there, and why would I opened a beer can and just leave it on my table?!. I did not touch any of the alcoholic drinks... and you can imagine what happened next... I had to pay.

I stayed at this hotel for one night on April 15th and had the worst hotel experience EVER. To be honest, before arriving Madagascar I have been traveling around Africa(from West to South) for 6 months already and Had NOT experience any stealing and robbery at ALL! I have to say, I felt pretty relax when I saw the hotel was nice and after seeing lemurs in Madagascar. Right after I arrive the hotel, I just put my money belt and purse on the bed and sofa and tried to get on to the internet since the hotel said there's wifi in the room. However, I cannot access the wifi so I went downstairs to ask them why. Then I seem to get connected but when I got back to my room, I cannot get onto the internet so I decided to stay at the lobby. After 2 hrs, there's power outage of the room so I got back to my room. It seem pretty strange because my room seem to be unlock but I am pretty sure I have locked the room. Anyway, it's dark so I didn't pay attention to anything. after 1 and a half hour, the power went back on so I went to the lobby again and use internet, the hotel staff asked me like-oh, there's no internet in your room, Is everything ok which seems to be pretty decent but now I think maybe it's checking whether I notice "they" had stole the money or not. The next day, I discover "part" of my money is missing because I took out 400000 Aries and put 200000 in my purse and 200000 in my money belt. but then when I paid the bellboy TIPS I discovered my purse shrink significantly!! Then I count the money, there's only half of the MSA left and US $50(I had US$ 80 inside my purse) is also gone!! THEN I took a deep breath!, I check ed my money belt and discover US$400 is GON ALSO! I had US$800 and EURO 50 inside, THEY DIDN"T TAKE THEM ALL!! they only took part of it hoping I didn't notice! I have NEVER EXPERIENCE SUCH A DISHONEST BEHAVIOR!! I was sick to the stomach and told the staffs about that! But They ARE ACTING SO NASTY AND THOUGHT I WAS MAKING TROUBLE! WHY SHOULD I?! Went to the police but forgot the police in AFRICA IS THIEVES ALSO!! THEY WILL NEVER HELP!

Anyone who intend to stay at this hotel pls reconsider!!! The hotel staff will steal from you with their spare key!

We stayed there with our 2 children. We put Excellent for this Hotel because you cannot find this kind of nice Hotel that average travelers from North America or Europe can afford in Antsirabe. People have spoken about this hotel in Antsirabe before we went on vacation there in July 2012. We are native of Antsirabe and living abroad, we grew up in Antsirabe so we know the city. We passed by this hotel, it was a brand new one: on the border of RN7 (Route d'Ambositra), nice exterior design, attractive view. We didn't dare asked the price when we passed by because it was beautiful from the outside and we thought it would be expensive like Flower Palace (a 3 Stars Hotel). Meanwhile, we stayed at 3 different another hotels (one of them is Trianon Hotel). We went to see many hotels in Antsirabe. We were very picky in cleanliness, smoke free, comfort and price. Finally, we decided to go to the Royal Palace, a brand new hotel located near the center of Antsirabe, not far from the Business center (banks such as BFV, BNI, BMOI). We were amazed by the comfort and good design of the rooms at this hotel. Which amazed us was the price. We paid less than the other Hotels (Trianon Hotel , Hotel villa camellia, La Residence sociale and much more) and we couldn't believe it. The staff was nice and polite. The heat was working. The hot water was working (rare in Antsirabe). The bed was comfortable. The nights at the Hotel were calm. The rooms were brand new, nice and had space. There was WIFI. There was a free Internet space at the hotel (computers provided). All the hotel was very clean and show comfort. We liked it too because it was a smoke free environment (at least during our stay), which is rare in Madagascar. The rooms were better than those in 3 stars hotels in Antananarivo (we have stayed some days in Antananarivo in 3 stars hotels too during our vacation). The restaurant at the hotel is Indian. You cannot get pork meat at it (the waiters said that the owner is a muslim). But they have strong indian black tea. This is a place to stay in Antsirabe. The hotel has a fitness room (we used it). The hotel has a nice swimming pool (it was winter in July 2012 so the water was cold and we could not use it). There were only 2 brand new hotels in Antsirabe in Summer 2012: Royal Palace and Flower Palace. Royal Palace has the quality of more than 3 stars. We stayed there more than 4 nights. Most hotels in Antsirabe are either very old or a beat-up one.

We stayed here as part of a tour of the southern part of the country. Nice rooms, plenty of hot water for showers and excellent breakfast selection. Staff were welcoming and friendly and we felt very secure

This is a beautiful hotel in the middle of Antsirabe. There are no elevators so be prepared to walk 3-4 flights up. Rooms were big with really good air, which was real nice after being on the river for 3 days with no air or showers. The shower pressure wasn't great but easy enough to make do. Wifi was fairly good. Breakfast was a buffet--- not to our liking but one of the best varieties that we had seen since in the country. For this area probably a 4-5 star.....

I had visited Antsirabe for the second time for business and stayed at this hotel for 16 continuous nights. The first time I stayed in Hotel Flower palace for 8 nights. This time my buyer recomended Hotel Royal Palace . The booking was made 15 days in advance and the reception was also good. They have an apartment room and a standard room. The apartment room has two rooms and a kitchen.

I had booked a standard room. The room was decent with neat linen. The bathrooms have the basic amenities but do not have a shower. There is only a hand shower which is very uncomfortable to take bath. Also the space is cramped both in the bath area and the toilet area.

The quality of food is average and menu is in french or malagasy. If you don't know either of the languages then getting what you want is difficult. My breakfast was included in the room. This is only offered if your bargain for the inclusion. For breakfast they serve a piece of long bread about 4inches and cold tea/coffee only. The bread is not the regular ones we get to eat. This looks very peculiar and is very hard. Also the coffee/tea served is not hot.

There is a wifi in the restaurant and rooms. But be specific to ask for the room in the first floor as the wi fi connectivity is poor in the second floor and restaurant.

i had read previous reviews about the false additional charges the make during billing. I was careful enough to check the status of my bills every alternative day. I was to check out on the 26th morning. Knowing from the previous reviews I had asked them to make my bill on 25th morning. But they took ages to prepare and gave my bill on 25th night. When I verified the bills from the accounts i had kept each day they had charged me app 2,00,000 Ariary extra and no supporting bills with an extra night which was not utilised. The guy in the reception had no explanation for the additional charges and was insisting that the bill was perfect.

When i gave him my break up he did not even look in to the details. He asked for my final value and immediately gave me a bill according to my value. Their practice is to delay the issue of bills till the last moment and when the guest is in a hurry to leave he pays the amount without verifying.

The over all service of the staff in the restaurant and reception is poor. House keeping and laundry services are good. Laundry is very costly compared to other hotels in Antsirabe.

My conclusion is this hotel is not worth the money paid. There are better hotels in Antsirabe that offer better service at affordable price.

Located close to the centre, this looks like a modern hotel form the outside but is a little tired and worn. We arrived to be told that there was a problem with the water supply and would need to wait for it to be fixed. This didn't take long but I couldn't get any hot water out of the shower that evening or the following morning. My husband did manage a warm shower.

The room was large with a TV, fridge but no safe. It had a wardrobe but no hangers and when I went to reception to ask for hangers, they found 2 battered plastic ones - better than nothing. The beds were comfortable.

I had been looking forward to a swim but the pool was closed for renovation. It is a good sized pool surrounded by lawn. It'll be even better when it has water in it!

The food in the restaurant was inexpensive and there were western as well as local options to choose from. It was decent. Breakfast was supposed to be a buffet but was not. As in many hotels in Madagascar, it was 'bread' heavy. You can get eggs which were well cooked.

Stayed overnight twice en route and back from Morondava. I stayed in 2 different wings but both had spacious well-appointed rooms with A/C, in-room safe, TV, mini-bar fridge, tea kettle, wifi and room darkening drapes. Typical of Madagascar there are no elevators anywhere and while the new wing is modern, if you have mobility issues, it will be very difficult to get there, let alone climb the stairs to upper floor rooms.

The new wing is a luxe design with beautiful wooden fixtures, a sitting area and an almost too tall armoire, but my 5th floor room was amiss with missing bathroom light fixtures, leaky shower doors, and gaps in the window frames. The multi shower head unit was a nice touch but ambitious given the lack of water pressure.

The pool is beautiful with comfortable chaises and there's a tiny fitness room poolside as well. Right over the fence is someone's home-crop farm. While insulated from street noise, ear plugs are recommended for roosters, dogs and early call to prayer at a mosque.

The restaurant on-site is good with a multicultural menu but if you are vegan like me you have to get creative and work with the willing staff. The full bar offers a long list of cocktails, wine and non-alcoholic drinks.

Overall the service was great, but this relatively large property caters to groups on tour so beware of waits at checkout and dining. The hotel accepts Visa credit cards.
