Visited Wedding Oak Winery while staying in San Saba. The tasting room is nicely furnished and decorated creating an inviting environment for wine tasting. The staff pouring that day was very friendly and helpful. Tasted some very good wines (most notably the Rousanne and Tioja) but one thing I didn’t care for was that they had pre-selected wine flights for tastings. Most other wineries that i have visited, you get to choose what wines (usually like 4-6 selections) that you want to taste. I prefer being able to choose which wines i want to taste.

Wow, I've never seen such a long wood suspension bridge. We drove over it as there is no sign saying not to, Hearing the tires on the wood was such an amazing sound. We enjoyed being the only ones out there and looking at the river that was mostly dried up. Very cool thing to look up and there was a sign describing it.

The community has done a wonderful job creating a peaceful and relaxing park setting for all ages. We enjoyed the beautiful flowers and beach area of the park. What a surprising respite to find a beach in west central Texas!

I enjoyed walking through this park. It has interesting information, and is very well-kept. One drawback was the bathroom - one door was locked and the other one was very hard to open/close, and the lock did not work, so we had to stand outside and "guard". I understand this is a pretty new park, so that was disappointing. But the park itself is very nice.

Visited in late December 2020. We had just come from the Regency Bridge where we were able to walk across, and we were expecting to walk across this smaller (but older) bridge too. The 140' bridge spans the San Saba River. It was recently closed and blocked even for foot traffic. But still, if you like to see old bridges, you will want to see this one, which is located just a couple of miles northwest of town. There is plenty of space to park.

Pardon the pun, but this is a truly LOVELY PLACE!
I was here in 2017 and the tree had more mass to it then. Some fierce windstorm had passed through the area since then and wracked a few major branches. BUT the essence of the tree is still in place.
What, additionally, made it so very nice for my wife and I (she wasn't on my earlier trip) is that a neighbor passing by stopped while we were there and insisted on taking some photographs of us on our camera. As I'm not a "selfy" kinda guy I was very gratefully appreciative of his efforts, time, and story.

Go there! You DON'T have to be on your Honeymoon!!

This is a gem of a park. The walking paths are all concrete and large enough for people to pass each other. Great area to watch birds. The ONLY thing is when the sun goes down there are not lights.....but otherwise just peaceful and great for the family to nature walk or exercise!!

Unlike a lot of other Texas olive oil stores, the olive oils and vinegars they sell here are made elsewhere. Nor is the owner very well versed on her products. When I asked if the oils were cold pressed, she had no idea. I didn't push for first cold pressed. When she said that the olives were from Spain, Greece, and Italy, I made the assumption that, in that case, they probably were not first cold pressed. That being said, we tasted several of the oils and several of the balsamic vinegars and found them to be quite good. They do have an oil that is labeled as Spanish and has a very good flavor. I hadn't intended to buy any vinegars but some were so outstanding I couldn't resist. The chocolate vinegar tastes like chocolate syrup. We have been eating it on vanilla ice cream. The brown fig was a big surprise. We eat this on anything you would put syrup on; the pecan praline too. The garlic cilantro is fabulous on meat. The sell two sizes of all the oils and vinegars, large for $18 and small for $8. There are other gourmet products too. I was surprised to find such a high quality store in such a small town. I recommend to store if you are going through San Saba.

The Mercantile has a wonderful array of antiques, collectibles, local handmade items, and ladies' and children's clothes...all displayed so beautifully! The vendors are an eclectic group, but the ones I've met are friendly and truly welcome you to their establishment! In this small town, these ladies exude Southern hospitality!
