I couldn’t explain this movie to anyone if my life depended on it. My girlfriend cried like 3 times, though
Criminally underrated family film about growing up, understanding the importance of belief, and kicking your mom’s douche of a boyfriend in the dick. Stick half of The Princess Bride with another half of Big Fish and you’ll get Secondhand Lions, an unforgettable experience that everyone has unfortunately forgotten.
Was surprised I understood everything going on considering I never saw the first Hand Lions
“We're fix'in to die anytime, so if we kick off in the middle of the night, you're on your own.”
First time I saw this film I was in English class, 9th grade, perhaps. I thought it was gonna be “stupid” or “boring” but I was just happy to be doing something other than classwork when she rolled that classic box TV on the stand in. Rewatching it now, the house the Uncles live in is much more scary looking & run down than I remember.
Secondhand Lions includes extremely amusing performances by Michael Caine & Robert Duvall. Two Great Uncles of Haley Joel Osment’s character Walter. Getting shipped off to stay with two old men, who you don’t know at all,…
A heartwarming film by Disney about a young buy who gets sent away by his mother to live with his two eccentric uncles. It’s an enjoyable story about growing up, family and tall tale adventures. I rarely see Michael Caine in American roles and he pulled off the redneck Texan role rather well.
Robert Duvall and Michael Caine are two brothers who decide to spend their last days at their farm shooting at fish and salesmen when suddenly a teenage boy (Haley Joel Osment) is forced to stay with them. It’s not long before the great-Uncles are swapping stories, acting quirky and delivering sage advice to their young nephew.
The film’s a bit rough around the edges, but the charm is abundant and aplenty. Duvall, Caine and Osment are aces and a true joy to watch.
It's cute, and I understand why it's one of my grandpa's favorite movies. It's good to see two old guys having fun together
“ Sometimes the things that may or may not be true are the things a man needs to believe in the most , That people are basically good , That honor, courage, and virtue mean everything , That power and money, money and power mean nothing , That good always triumphs over evil , And I want you to remember this , That love true love never dies , You remember that boy, you remember that Doesn't matter if it's true or not , You see a man should believe in those things , Because those are the things worth believing in . ” ~‘ Hub McCann ’
