Four teams of bakers showcase their kitchen skills in each episode as they whip up cakes and other confections with the hope of leaving with the $10,000 grand prize. Pastry chefs Candace Nelson and Adriano Zumbo --- along with a roster of guest judges that includes restaurateur Richard Blais and actor Colin Hanks -- critique the bakers' culinary creations and determine who takes home the cash prize at the end of each competition. Riese Bernard Autostraddle It's not a revolution ... but it's solid. Aug 27, 2021 Full Review Susannah Butter London Evening Standard The judges are kind, sugar-coating criticism by always saying something positive first - watching them is a masterclass in constructive management. Jun 20, 2019 Full Review Amy Glynn Paste Magazine The contestants are a healthy and sometimes hilarious mix of human ingredients with a vast range of personalities and perspectives, and judge Adriano Zumbo is bright and has a lot of personality. Jun 20, 2019 Full Review Emily Ashby Common Sense Media Timely twist on baking contest adds strategy to the mix. Rated: 4/5 Aug 20, 2018 Full Review Stephanie Cooke Rogues Portal It's a nice balance for me where they're obviously being a lot more critical than on a show like Nailed It but still ensuring that they're not crossing a line into an uncomfortable place that feels more hurtful than helpful. Aug 20, 2018 Full Review Meghan O'Keefe Decider I found myself laughing aloud a few times, not over any massive fails, but the sweet chemistry and all-too-honest friction between teammates in the confessionals. Audience Member The judges are rigged. After watching the episode "kinds in a candy episode", you can really see how rigged those judges are. They eliminated the group that made a unique and delicious Ube yam with coconut candy. But, had kept the group that created a very HARD candy. They can't even chew it so, how can they taste the candy if they cant even bite and chew it. So rigged. Don't watch this show. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Somewhat interesting; not the best baking show. Hunter the host has so many teeth; totally distracting. Zumbo comes off arrogant. Meh! Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Great show!! Super fun!! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member After watching the first 6 episodes, it is so clear that the judging is all rigged. In episode 6, all the judges said the almond extract in Alan and Anna's cake was way too strong (Candace even said it burned her mouth!), and Ashley and Hillary's cake was light, fluffy, and so delicious! Yet, somehow, it was Alan and Anna that won??? I don't believe that was fair and honest judging for one second. I also agree with many of the reviewers here who dislike the host. I think he's pompous and condescending, and who is he to act like that? Never heard of the guy before this show. Boo, Netflix! Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews
