Terminal Information – Departing

Flights to Mykonos depart from Area B (Schengen). Aegean Airlines operate a Club lounge in the area for their business class passengers. Everyone else will have to make do with the 45 minutes of free wi-fi provided in public areas of the terminal. Athens Airport has a large shopping centre before security. There are more than 50 shops including designer favourites Marc Jacobs, Hugo Boss and Juicy Couture. There are 14 places to grab a bite to eat, so there's no need to fly on an empty stomach. The airport hosts a range of permanent and temporary art exhibitions, so you can enjoy a bit of culture before you depart for the islands. If you're flying with little-ones they can blow off a bit of steam in the children's play area, which is specially designed for 1-8 year olds. If you're travelling with infants you'll find baby rooms for changing and feeding dotted throughout the terminal.
Terminal Information – Arriving
Lots of hotels in Mykonos offer airport transfers for their guests. Get in touch with your hotel directly to find out if this service is available and how much it will cost. Some provide it for free, others charge a little more than the taxis. You can get a taxi from the rank: expect to pay about €8* (about £6.20) for a trip into Mykonos Town, with a small surcharge for luggage. During the summer a bus runs between the airport and the Fabrika bus station on the south side of Mykonos Town. Tickets cost €1.60* (about £1.25). The schedule changes frequently, so unless a bus is already waiting at the bus stop it's worth considering another form of transport. You'll find plenty of car hire desks in the arrivals hall: remember to compare prices with Skyscanner before you fly.
Practical Information
You don't need a passport to fly between Athens and Mykonos. We recommend you keep your passport on you anyway, for security purposes. Aim to arrive at the airport at least 90 minutes before scheduled departure.
What to expect in Mykonos
There's no time difference between Athens and Mykonos. Mykonos is slightly cooler than Athens, with an average temperature of 26°C in summer compared to an average of 29°C in Athens. Prices in Mykonos are a lot higher than in Athens. Dinner for two in a mid-range restaurant is about 30% more expensive, while a bottle of water is more than double the price.
