How to Copy and Paste Symbols on Your Computer

This allows you to input the alternative codes by holding down the “Alt” (or “Option” on the Mac) key and entering the code using the numeric keyboard, followed by releasing the “Alt” (or “Option”) key.

For example, to input a symbol using the alternative code:

Hold down the “Alt” key (or “Option” key on Mac).
Use the numeric keyboard to enter the code under the desired symbol.

How to Turn On Number Lock

To type a symbol using Alt (PC) or ⌥ Option (Mac) and the numeric code, follow these steps:

For PC:

Ensure that your Num Lock (Number Lock) is turned on, as Alt codes are typically entered using the numeric keypad on your keyboard.
Place the cursor where you want to insert the symbol.
Hold down the Alt key (PC).
While holding the Alt key, type the numeric code for the symbol on the keypad. For example, to type the Taurus symbol (Alt + 9801), press and release 9, then 8, then 0, and finally 1 on the numeric keypad.

For Mac:

Place the cursor where you want to insert the symbol.
Hold down the ⌥ Option key (Mac).
While holding down the ⌥ Option key, type the numeric code for the symbol. Macs use the Unicode method for entering special characters, so you might need to use the Unicode code rather than Alt codes. In this case, you may be unable to use the Alt key on a Mac.
