- K DOcean Springs, MS83 contributionsWe had a lovely visit at the cemetery where the Superintendent showed us around. This is an excellent memorial to those who gave all, and is a must see for any Americans in the area.Written June 7, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - UrsosarctosUnited Kingdom753 contributionsThe basilica is dour looking from the exterior, but it is well worth going in to see the beautiful interior, particularly the stained glass. Sadly, the building is in need of some TLC, and it would help if they could get rid of the pigeons in the vicinity.Written October 25, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jean-michel SLondon, UK48 contributionsThe huge tainted glass wall fills the church with a warm and mysterious ambiance. - Frank CAntwerp, Belgium64 contributionsEquipped with the latest multimedia techniques, very interesting museum that will give you a good idea of the importance that Epinal played in the world of images. After a visit to this museum, you will have a much better insight in the way, where and why images were printed in Epinal, which once was one to the most important printing companies in France.Written December 12, 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JKB2013Luxembourg City, Luxembourg97 contributionsWe started from the exhibition of a roman villa, with the presentation of some rooms, which was very interesting for my teen. Further this museum shows the paintings as the evolution of art: renaissance, rococo, etc, modern art, pop art, art nouveau.
Nice building inside and outside, very well presented collection, easy to follow, not crowded.
Not all descriptions were in English, so we tried our best in French. :)
The collection is not extraordinary, but there are some nice works. I personally like Vlaminck, Ventrillon, and Marinot. We enjoyed this museum a lot!Written April 21, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JervaulxYork, UK845 contributionsWe stopped for a couple of hours by the River Moselle at Epinal. We had a nice coffee on the riverbank at the Ambassade Cafe before strolling down the riverbank promenade, crossing a footbridge and entering the old town. We visited a nice indoor market and then the town's main church.
The beautiful and solidly built medieval cathedral had some interesting fixtures. Included in the photos is a 15C memorial brought to the church from a nearby village.
We then walked of a remaining section of the old town walls before passing through a quiet area nearby with two nice open-air fronts to restaurants.
Tip: park in city centre municipal car park midweek and there is free car parking over the lunch period. I am not certain but I think this was midday to 2pm.Written July 8, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
