One of the more intriguing take offs from Cassavetes' Gloria because unlike all others it doesn't lift the plot, which it right recognizes as the least interesting thing about it, but the aesthetic tension between its pulpy premise and the intensity it renders the characters feelings. It is also a couple on the lam movie, this time an aging hooker and a big time Wall Street guy going through some morality crisis, but it is not very interested in genre payoffs (it wraps its plot with 20 minutes to go and use its third act most to reiterate themes), although it does feature an unhinged Richard Lynch performance as her pimp/plot catalyst and an enjoyable over the top Russian roulette…
