The city gained power and prosperity in the Middle Ages through dyeing.
There are large churches, numerous half-timbered houses and an almost entirely preserved city wall to be admired.
Langensalza is also known for its medicinal springs and gardens.
After the tour, it is worth visiting the gardens in the northeast of the old town.
