Katie Rosebud Mitchell is the main protagonist of The Mitchells vs. the Machines. She is the daughter of Rick and Linda Mitchell, and the older sister of Aaron Mitchell. She is voiced by Abbi Jacobson.

Katie appears with greasy, maroon-brown hair tied in a ponytail, big black square glasses, a lightning earring on her left ear, a red jacket with multiple badges on it, including a rainbow pin, a white shirt with a yellow and purple monster on it, blue, ripped jeans with eyes drawn near the rips, hexagon socks, and light grey sneakers with "HECK YEAH!" written on them. She also has stuff written on her hands and sharpie used as black nail-polish.
Personality[]
Katie is depicted as being quirky and creative, whilst socially awkward but friendly and outgoing. As seen at the beginning of the film, her peers made fun of her because of her love for making weird films but was still outgoing to continue them.
One of the things she always wanted was to find her people and her dad to understand and support her. She has a rocky relationship with him at first, since she thought he wouldn't be there for her, but as the film goes by, they developed their relationship and soon understood where they both came from. When Katie first applied for film college, she was so desperate to get in that it got to the point that she wanted to leave as soon as possible (even covering up what she meant to her dad), but ultimately she redeemed herself to her family.

Katie was born on May 14, 2002, and was too young to remember her first home in the woods.
As seen in the home films, she seemed to enjoy being with her dad, like riding in his shoulders and pretending to drive with him. When she was around eight years old, she was going to summer camp, which she was incredibly upset about because she knew she wouldn't see her dad, but he reassured her that she would be fine, giving her a moose toy for her to make her feel more confident (even jokingly teaching her how to say 'I love you' in moose language).

Katie Mitchell is the first open lesbian and LGBTQ+ protagonist in a big studio family film.
While her orientation is never made clear until the end of the film, there are several hints throughout the film. Most notably, she wears a gay pride pin on her jacket.
Her sexuality is made clear at the end when Linda asks her if she and her new girlfriend Jade will be coming home for Thanksgiving.
Katie and Jade became official in Dog Cop 7: The Final Chapter.

Katie's age is speculated on by fans as the film has some things that do not line up perfectly.
According to her driver's license, she is 17 years old, because it says she was born on May 14, 2003, and the movie takes place in 2020. However, people say the age on the license is off because the Mitchells moved out of the log cabin on May 8, 2003, when Katie was a baby, which according because her driver's license would be impossible because she would still be unborn. Instead, she was probably born in 2002.
