Nestled in a stunning, secluded beachfront location, Los Sueños Marriott Ocean & Golf Resort has won the hearts of guests with its array of amenities, including expansive pools, varied dining options, and activities for the whole family. While some guests express concerns over dated room decor and a lack of privacy, the spaciousness and unique hammock feature often compensate. Despite some criticism about the high prices for food and services, the resort's cleanliness and exceptional service consistently receive accolades. Overall, travelers enjoy the natural beauty and dedicated staff that define their stay.

My family just returned from a five night stay at the Los Suenos Marriott. Overall, it was a great trip, and there are a lot of things to like about this hotel. The location is a perfect spot for exploring the Central Pacific Coast of Costa Rica like Manuel Antonio and Carrara National Parks. The rooms are large and well appointed. The pool was amazing. The staff was friendly and professional. There are just a couple things that kept me from giving this five stars:

Marriott Bonvoy Benefits - I'm a Titanium Elite member with Marriott. I knew we were traveling at a busy time of year, so I wasn't expecting a room upgrade. However, I had requested connecting rooms since we had two rooms reserved for my family of five. They were unable to accommodate my request. Additionally, even though I had two rooms reserved, I was only given breakfast complimentary for one of the rooms, so we had to pay extra for our kids every morning. The complimentary breakfast is continental only. Hot items (Eggs, Bacon, rice and beans) are extra.

Beach - The grounds are gorgeous, and the views are amazing, The beach is just not very nice. No one is ever out there. Most people just hang out at the (amazing) pool. If you are a beach person, there are better beaches nearby at Playa Blanca or Manuel Antonio.

Prices - The hotel itself can be expensive, especially during high season. However, the food and beverage prices were high as well. They were on par with what I have paid in Hawaii....definitely not Costa Rica prices.

Finally, I would highly encourage renting a car. We rented one for a few days at the National/Alamo car rental at the marina village and it was simple/painless. It gave us a lot of freedom to explore outside of the resort.

The hotel had many good features but lacked the atmosphere of Costa Rica. When we arrived around 6pm there was a loud children’s movie playing outdoors which echoed around the pool area this happened most evenings Many large groups of American families appear to come hear and the hotel caters for this market. The bedroom was comfortable but had a musty smell and was poorly lit. The breakfast staff looked miserable and overworked. Although the breakfasts were good the dinning room was cramped and noisy. The things we did like about the resort was that there was plenty of space outside and lots of sunbeds and the grounds were beautiful. The beach was ok but had dark sand the sea however was nice to swim in. The coffee shop was a real asset for us it was quieter and the staff were friendly and it’s cakes pastries sandwiches and ice creams were amazing. We liked the fact you could walk along a pathway to the marina which had a few shops and restaurants and a west facing beach were you could watch the sun go down . The hotel also has a golf course but the price of golf including clubs was over $200 per person which was too expensive and there was no discount for 9 holes which is all we wanted to play.

Some very good points about the hotel are the very spacious grounds, loads of sunbeds so never a problem to get one, short walk to the sea for a swim, long lazy river style pool system, great for long swims (also a good pool volleyball/ games area in the system) and what looks like a very good kids club. Short walk to the marine with a few shops and restaurants and a great sunset view beach. On-site restaurants offer lots of choice, coffee shop is excellent as is sushi.
Downsides are that rooms are a bit tired though still pretty good overall, rainforest views actually mean overlooking car park or entrance road, service can be variable ( some staff such as Luis in Bar8 and all the coffee shop people are brilliant, others a bit morose), beach is long but very dark sand and no sunchairs there. Atmosphere is very American, don’t expect any Costa Rican ambience as at the Marriott San Jose.
Resort fee includes use of driving range and tennis courts, equipment inclusive. But at $38 per day, hardly a bargain, and its mandatory. Golf course is overpriced if you don’t have clubs: $140 plus $75 for fairly old Nike Covert 2.0 irons and woods. $110 after 2pm. They refused to offer any discount on these prices to just play 9 holes, so we passed.
Overall fine for a few days rest but other than for Manuel Antonio national park, it’s not well placed to see the great wildlife and volcanic areas of Costa Rica. You could be anywhere frankly, no local flavour at all.

Hotel is gorgeous, Rooms are big and nice, pool is huge and amazing, staff is very helpful, views on the bay unbelievable. But beach is very bad, fine black sand looks like mud, sea water is clean and totally swimmable – but it does not look good at all due to gray fine sand. Los Suenos where resort is located is gated community with golf (we do not play golf, so I cant say anything about it) and marina . There are few restaurants in resort and more restaurants in Los Suenos in walkable distance, but prices are very high in each one of them (breakfast buffet is $30 for example). Basically, be ready to spend $100 per person par day on food alone. If you have a car – you can go places, but if you do not – you need to call taxi/ uber to go anywhere and it takes 15-20 min for car to arrive. Only activity for the night – restaurant, bar or kids’ movie by the pool. Sometimes there is a concert – again for additional fee. I would say that if you play golf or own a yacht – this place is perfect, but if you do not – I would recommend staying somewhere else .

Like every other traveler visiting Los Suenos, my husband and I came down here for a little R&R. Upon entering the hotel, we were impressed by the beauty of the lobby, pool area, and outdoor layout. However, once entering our room, our excitement quickly turned into regret for ever booking a reservation here. There is a MAJOR construction project on the north-end of the hotel, specifically the “rainforest view rooms”. This morning, loud yelling started around 7:15, and at 7:30, the hammering, sawing, and pounding began. The worksite will not shut down until approximately 7 pm tonight. To say we’re disappointed in this Marriott experience would be a gross understatement. The least Marriott corporate can do for its Elite Members, or any other customers, is post a disclaimer and/or update about construction projects at their properties. If you are looking for a peaceful and picturesque experience in Costa Rica, please consider staying elsewhere.

Dear O6904KYstephanieb, Thank you for chosen Los Suenos Marriott for your stay. We sincerely apologize for falling short of meeting your expectations. This construction is near by our property but is not Los Suenos Marriott project or construction. As all condominiums and marina, it is part or the complex but not same company. Once again, I apologize for your experience. Regards, Florencia A.

The Los Suenos Marriott. I'd give it 4.5 stars, but that's not an option so I'll round up since we had a great time. Pros: Pool is amazing, huge, and never crowded. Waterfalls, bridges, toys for kids, and a nice swim up bar for adults. Great views of Marina. Dining options were decent, all great ambiance. Hacienda was great for breakfast, overlooking the pool area. Steak house was good as well but nothing spectacular. There are also a few other restaurants we enjoyed at Los Suenos Marina, which is a pleasant 10 minute walk away. The room was nice, nothing amazing. We had a rainforest room which unfortunately included a view of some new construction. We were told no upgrades were available (I am an elite member so figured I'd ask) because there no were other rooms available, which was a bit odd considering how empty the hotel seemed for what I would think is a peak time of year. Its also a great location for some excursions. We did the Crocodile River Tour, Ziplining at Los Suenos Adventure Park, and a day trip to Manuel Antonio. All were alot of fun. We booked ahead of time through Piko Travel which I recommend, although I know other people booked similar activities right through the hotel. The hotel is also only a 10 minute drive into Jaco. There were also a few other perks for Elite members which we werent told about that we figured out along the way.. 10% discount at the restaurants, 2 for 1 drink specials every day at the pool bar..etc. All in all a great stay.

Our room was stunning with beautiful hammock by the balcony. Entire resort is stunning and very clean. Overall it was a great vacation with some small issues.
We received a card with ''Gift that we should pick up at the front desk'', that gift was a bracelet so we can pay drinks, foods with that and it`s directly connected with our room number so we don`t need to bring cards/cash. Who came up with that idea? I wasted 20mins of my brief time in Costa Rica just so I can receive a plastic bracelet to make payments? You can just write down your room number and that`s it. This was absolutely useless.

Also, crepe kiosk closed abruptly without any notice just when we were approaching them and M.E., the waffle guy, made me wait 20mins in a wrong line. Pool service was very slow but all employees are generally very polite, speak good english and work hard. I think management has some areas for improvement.

With average drinks and meals, and prepaid breakfast we spent over $300 for food and drinks in 2 days. Anywhere outside of the resort prices 1/5 of the prices in the hotel but even that`s okay if you match it with faster service.
Cocktails were very good and there was plenty of delicious food.

Overall we are very happy with our choice and with small improvements it can be a perfect hotel.

When we booked we could only get a studio for 5 nights in the brand new Vacation Club building so we also booked 2 nights in the hotel and used suite upgrades. The studio was fine but small and not much view from any of the rooms. Also no table to eat on or washing machine/dryer. Did have a refrigerator and microwave. All restaurants and activities were on the hotel side. We loved our suite but no refrigerator or microwave. Awesome view from the suite. If you go be sure to arrange for Covid test when you arrive. Limited appointments and everything has to be filled out on your phone. Very complicated. The staff did help if you find the right staff member. There is a clinic nearby but still a $10 round trip cab ride. The test costs us $85 each. There is an extremely nice marina with some very good restaurants about a 10 minute walk from the hotel. We also connected with a tour company called Piko Travel. Piko and his wife Lindsay were great. Arranged transportation to/from the airport. Then met with us the next morning to book several excursions. Very professional and highly recommend using them.

Had to get away due to the lockdowns keeping us in & it’s only an hour away from where we live in CR. Had a very nice quiet stay here with only about 20, maybe 30 other couples staying here during the week. Members, Residents & Citizens get a great Deal here with the TucanPack deal & as members & residents we took advantage of it. Great customer service, nice room that we never stay in except to freshen up & sleep. The food was very good, we enjoyed breakfast & dinner here. The pools are really nice which we prefer over the beach/ocean. The marina is close by to walk over to for some exercise & sidewalks throughout Los Suenos. We drove over to Jaco for lunch and saw that many places are closed, never to return, so sad. Hope it all comes back soon.

Currently at the Hotel while I am writing this review. Was looking for a quaite relaxing week. But here you get the opposite of this. The noises beginning 6.30am with the leafblower walking around the poolarea. Then from 10 to 10pm very loud techno music around the hotelpools. Not possible to escape from this, expect when you leave the hotel! Very high food prices and small portions.
If you like to get ripped off with food and accomodation prices, drunken americans in swimmrings around the pool and loud technomusic all day long then this is your place.
If looking for a quite relaxing beachholiday then stay away of this place.
Very pitty as the garden and pools are wounderfull

We had breakfast included so that can save a bunch right there. We would eat a larger breakfast and maybe a small meal for lunch then dinner. With that, I would say we spent about $150 a day for both of us. We usually had a nicer dinner and a few drinks by the pool. Hope that helps!
