What more can i do

Question / Request

I (24F) eat fruits and veggies everyday. I’m trying to exercise frequently as well. I have a good amount of water intake. I take a stool softener and metamucil each night before bed and yet the next day the poop is rock hard and the fissure is never healed. Thankfully, no blood in the poo for the last week or so but the poo seems to have gotten harder (or the fissure has just gotten worse idk) I also take a sitz bath every day, with just warm water - I got epsom salts today so let’s see about that. I don’t know what more to do. I use cortizone 2-3 times a day and keep reapplying petroleum jelly on my anus to keep it from burning and hurting. I have come to a point where I cannot do without petroleum jelly at this point, I have nearly even fainted from the pain. I am so tired. I feel like the process of it all, the thinking and the stressing takes up atleast 50-60% of my energy daily. It’s been well over 1.5 months of this. What else can I do other than what I am already doing? Please help. 🙏🏻 Edit: Added more details

Stop metamucil...start miralax.

Thank you!

Hydrocortisone is more for hemorrhoid...you need Nifedipine

Oh got it! Nifedipine requires prescription in the usa, I’m an international student with huge debts, cannot afford going to a doctor and getting a prescription at this point unfortunately :(

I was like that, nothing seems to work, and I decided to get a colonoscopy. I am not sure what happened, after my colonoscopy I pass stool smoothly and my 1 BM per day became 2 BM per day and my stools are soft now. It kinda aligns my gut. It is now a month after my procedure and now I am having my life back.

My colonoscopy had opposite effect. I was doing well getting back to nornal after 5 years of hell then colonoscopy ruined everything and now i have been laxative dependent for 14 months 😕

Oh no, please take care! hope you recover soon

That’s great to hear! Hope your recovery is on track :) Unfortunately for me, I cannot get any medical procedure done cause I am genuinely, extremely broke

Have a look at what worked for me. I understand the pain. Good luck to you.

Thanks a lot! I started psyllium husk yesterday, hopefully it works :) The nifedipine and diltiazem creams seemed to have worked for a lot of people! Unfortunately I cannot afford getting a prescription for the same, thanks a lot for the input though!
