Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Sitting as the gateway to 'cathedral island' this is probably one of the more photogenic spots in the old town. Look out for the dwarves and don't incur their wrath by leaving a love lock on the metal work!

Head towards the Sand Bridge which is the oldest bridge in Wroclaw once you cross it take a short walk look to the right hand side is where you will find the Tumski Bridge. A well known spot which offers great views and photo opportunities with the churches in the background day or at sunset. All the padlocks have been removed from the bridge, keep eye out for the lamplighter gnome look up.

This is an attractive bridge over the River Oder which takes you to Cathedral Island. It has gorgeous views of the river.

The city has now a rule where it is not allowed to put padlocks on the bridge girders. Very good, because last time they cleaned up it removed several tons of weight. Putting a padlock on a bridge is really a waste of money.
Other than that, the bridge itself is beautifully maintained.

Lovely views from the bridge and a placard about why the locks got removed off the bridge, however a very romantic alternative location with a bench, to locking your love on the bridge!

The bridge used to be covered with locks but these have been removed due to the weight. There is a sign at one end above a Dwarf with the reasoning and a lovely story about it.
You can get some lovely views of the river from the bridge and some great views of the bridge from the church on the island.

Lovely little bridge and very picturesque. It's very small but overlooks the river and other island in Wroclaw. It connects to city center so be aware, it's very busy especially with all the trams around you.

We were headed up to Cathedral Island and found our way was blocked. Fortunately there is another bridge that allows access on to the island but little was provided by way of signposting to let you know in advance. We did see lots of padlocks on a stretch leading up to the bridge but believe the bridge itself has more, according to other reviews. The fact that one access route was closed did not spoil the sight of the island and the time we had exploring one of the most atmospheric parts of Wroclaw.

When we walked along the river walk, we found that this bridge was blocked for some renovation. Lots of wood covered the unique structure. It did not take away too much from the lovely river side walk around the church however. Even though this has been the Love-Locks bridge, there are locks in the surrounding metal fences around the river and elsewhere if that was your intention. We used the other bridge by the front of the NMP Catholic church to reach the rest of Cathedral Island.

I am now looking for a hotel in Budapest and then Krakow. Any suggestions?? Would like to be in the city center, close to sights. After this I plan to travel to Warsaw. Have been wondering if Gdansk is a must see. I would appreciate all comments!!!

Gdansk is a beautiful city and so easy to walk around. I was there in March this year and loved it so much I am already booked to go back next year. And I never go to the same city twice because there's always other places to see .

Hello,
I am planning to take a river cruise that ends up in Budapest. Would it be difficult to get to Krakow and spend a few days and do some tours there and then to Prague for several more days. We speak only English. Thank you for any assistance you can give!

Wroclaw is beautiful and has much to offer. Not a huge city so you can walk pretty much everywhere. However, it's at least a couple hours from Krakow so unless you have the extra time read Robin R's suggestions.
I will say that Wroclaw might be a good place to stay, probably more reasonably priced than Krakow but it really depends on what you are looking for.
I never had a problem with language - or rather my lack of speaking the native tongue. As long as you are polite and patient and don't expect to be catered to you won't have any problems. My fear of going to places in Europe kept me home for too long. This year I was in Germany, Italy & Poland and found the people everywhere to be warm and welcoming as long as I remembered that I was visiting in their home and treated them as such.
If you have a smart phone be sure to contact your carrier in advance so you can use it - it will come in handy.
Have a wonderful time.
