I have a personal Z30 that I had used for work and need to Factory Reset it to clear it out and start fresh. I reloaded the OS fine, but it apparently has the anti-theft protection on it and wants my BB ID login to continue the setup.
I don't know the password so I went to reset it....

    PROBLEM

I no longer have access to the work email account that I had used when I originally set up the BB ID !!!

Any way to reset the password, or remove this anti-theft protection withOUT the BB ID ??

What good would theft protection be?

Sorry but best bet it to go to https://us.blackberry.com/bbid and use the BBID (the email you know) and just start trying passwords. Not really sure if the is ten tries, but that's really your only option at this point.

Do think there are services that claim to be able to get you in.... you can do a search and take the risk.

I had the same problem because I purschased a second hand Z30 that had already a BB ID configured whose password I did not know. I could use the phone as it is without acces to BB World & Protect. I could do a factory reset without BB ID after connecting my handset to my Windows computer through the USB cable and launching the Blackberry Link software. BB Link has an option to perform a Factory Reset but the initial setup process requires to enter the old BBID & password as antitheft feature.

When you are asked by anti-theft to type in your BBID, use another (one never used on this phone) VALID BBID, and then enter the WRONG password.

    It will report wrong password.

Immediately hold the power button down until the phone starts to reboot.

    Anti-theft will now be disabled.

Thanks conite. I could finally disable the antitheft feature and setup the phone using my own BBID. Problem solved!
