- I didn't rate this album much at first. It's been on the shelf for a few years.
Took it out today and played it in (new to me) Linn Karik/Numerik. Absolutely fabulous album. What a sound!
It's a sort of compilation with 'bits' added, but well worth the entry fee.
As per a previous comment-Track 8 is definitely a vinyl rip,as you can hear the ticks!
Highly recommended for both music and sound quality on Tracks 1-7. - Edited 3 years agoTrack 2 works with material from 'Ba-Benzele'
Track 3 is a version of 'Choir Moire'
Track 5 is based on a sample of 'Charm (Over "Burundi Cloud")'
Track 8 is identical with Charm (Over "Burundi Cloud"), but one minute longer
The re-edits of the comparable 'Bluescreen Project - The Vertical Collection' (97), which unfortunately only came out in a small edition, are much more convincing than the present blend of the 'materiali sonori' of 'Sulla Strada'. - Much of the material on this disc is a rehash of Hassell's earlier work. In fact, track 8 is an LP rip from Possible Musics. Still quite interesting though.
- Listen and repeat. Hassell uses voice like I've never heard. Apparently inspired by On the Road by Kerouac and details a journey from California to Mexico. The landscapes roll by with this one.
