Description At the height of the Nazi occupation of Rome, an unlikely band of heroes comes together to save innocent lives in this breathtaking World War II novel based on real historical events. The Nazi regime claimed Terezin was a model camp, but when one London reporter lands behind its walls, she uncovers the horrors of this concentration camp that often served as a stop on the road to Auschwitz. An ounce of courage. A split-second leap of faith. Together, they propel two young women to chase a new life—one that’s reimaginedfrom what they might have become. Drawn by the mystery surrounding The Sleeping Beauty—a castle so named for Charles Perrault’s beloved fairy tale—Ellie embarks on a journey to France’s Loire Valley in hopes that she can unearth its secrets before time silences them forever. Based on the real orchestra comprised of prisoners at Auschwitz, The Butterfly and the Violin shows how beauty and hope can penetrate even the darkest corners.

La vie en France

La vie en France
First I’ll tell what I didn’t like… I didn’t like the Time-slip. With two main characters & two different time periods it was hard to get started & hard to keep the characters straight. I also didn’t like personally, that I had to use google translate for some of the French in the book. Now what I loved! I loved the strong woman characters! I loved their patriotism & loyalty to their families & country. The author did a lot of research around the time period & I appreciate that because although it’s a work of fiction it’s also very possible that something like this would have happened. Lila & Sandrine could have been real fighting in the Resistance, and that makes a good story. I’ve read other reviews & the time-slip was usually what stopped people from enjoying this book. I hope it doesn’t for you! Because once I got in the thick of the book, that didn’t bother me at all!!
