Julian Hilliard (born June 20, 2011)[1] is an American actor, known for portraying Billy Maximoff in the Disney+ series WandaVision (2021), David Glatzel in The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (2021) and young Luke in The Haunting of Hill House (2018) which earned him nominations for the 2019 Young Artist Award for Best Performance in a Streaming Series or Film as well as the 2019 Online Film & Television Association Award for Best Ensemble in a Motion Picture or Limited Series.

Early life[edit]

Hilliard was born on June 20, 2011, in Dallas, Texas, as the only child to filmmakers Justin Hilliard and actress Arianne Martin.[1][2]

As a child, Hilliard always liked to play pretend and make his own stories and movie trailers with his parents.[3] He was acting from a very young age, making appearances in his father's films. Prior to making his professional debut, he made appearances in TV commercials.[2]

Career[edit]

Hilliard first amassed ubiquitous attention in 2018 for his portrayal of Young Luke in the supernatural horror drama television series The Haunting of Hill House on Netflix.[4] Shortly after having made his first film debut in the comedy feature Never Goin' Back (2018) only a few months earlier. In 2019, Hilliard appeared in Jocelyn DeBoer and Dawn Luebbe's satirical dark comedy Greener Grass,[5] as well as science fiction Lovecraftian horror film Color Out of Space directed by Richard Stanley as Jack Gardner.[6][7] On the 26th of April 2020, the dark fantasy Penny Dreadful: City of Angels television series premiered featuring Hilliard as Tom Craft.[8]

In 2021, Hilliard starred in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) series WandaVision[9][10] as Billy Maximoff, the son of Wanda Maximoff (played by Elizabeth Olsen) and the Vision (played by Paul Bettany). The series premiered on Disney+ in January of 2021.[11]

Hilliard will be playing the role of David Glatzel in director Michael Chaves' supernatural horror film, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, co-starring with Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga. Set for release in June 2021.[12][13]
